The varsity boys volleyball team traveled across the state to Burlington High School for their round of 32, MIAA Division 2 volleyball match. The new state tournament format offers opportunities to compete against schools from various cities and towns throughout Massachusetts that you may not have played before. After a 25-22 loss in the first set, and a 25-16 loss in the second set, the team recognized the importance of coming together in the third set to prevent a 3-0 loss in the best-of-five competition. The set did not go as planned with Ware falling to Burlington 25-15. While the volleyball season ends in Burlington, the friendships, life lessons, and sense of camaraderie will be forever carried with these student-athletes. This graduating class of senior-athletes have left the program in great shape for years to come. Thanks for a great season.

The Class D Western Massachusetts championship baseball game began at 3:33 with its first pitch, substantially later than the originally scheduled 2:00 start time, as a result of the Class C game, which started at 11:00, extending to an unexpected 17 innings. Ware arrived at 1:00, anxiously awaiting their game with Hopkins Academy, and used the additional time to prepare for the contest. The 21st game of the season is traditionally reserved for the start of the MIAA tournament unless one is participating in the Western Massachusetts finals. Ware initially secured a 1-0 lead but found themselves trailing 2-1 at the end of the first inning. After five innings, the score remained 2-1 Hopkins in a defensive battle with both teams playing through difficult situations. In the bottom of the 6th inning Hopkins was able to put a runner across the plate bringing the score to 3-1 Hopkins. Ware would need to score at least two runs in the top of the seventh for a chance to emerge victorious. The top of the seventh did not go as planned and Ware fell to Hopkins 3-1 in the Western Mass Championship. Ware will now focus on a deep run in the MIAA division 5 tournament with the round of 32 to be played next Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
