Get those submissions in for this round of Desert Streams before the deadline! 🎶

Would you like to reach a wider audience? BUILD YOUR FOLLOWING? Maybe earn a little money too?

Pima County Public Library’s Desert Streams is a free streaming music service featuring original local music that represents the talent and diversity of our region—and we want your music! We are looking for music—in ALL genres—from no earlier than 2021, from artists currently living, performing, or recording in Pima County, who have a completed, released album or EP of at least four songs.

Here’s how it works
🔵 Submit a sample track for consideration.
🟠 A panel of jurors from the library and the local music community will review the submissions.
🟣 25 selected artists will have their music featured on Desert Streams AND have their own page with photos, bios, and links to social media, upcoming shows, and merch.
🔵 The selected artists/bands receive a $250 honorarium!
🟠 We accept submissions and add new music twice a year

Submit your sample track to: PimaDesertStreams.org/submit

SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED OCTOBER 1 - OCTOBER 31, 2026

Join author Daniel Vandever for this free three-part series of online workshops for those writers who’ve always wanted to write a children’s book!

🟡 Workshop 1 - Nitsáhákees: An Author’s Inspiration

Thursday, November 5, 2026, 6:30pm-7:30pm

American Indian Youth Literature Award honoree Daniel W. Vandever reflects on his ten-year journey creating children’s picture books while shedding light (and providing helpful tips) into the world of picture book publishing. The session is intended to encourage those thinking about writing a picture book.

🟡 Workshop 2 - Nahat’á: Planning Out Your Picture Book

Thursday, November 12, 2026, 6:30pm-7:30pm

In this hands-on workshop, Author Daniel W. Vandever demonstrates the process of growing an idea into a publication-ready story. The workshop will provide insight into brainstorming, writing a manuscript, and story boarding among others topics. By the end of the session, attendees will have a working draft of a story. The session is intended to encourage those planning to write a picture book.

🟡 Workshop 3 - ‘Iina: Traditional Publishing or Self-Publishing?

Thursday, November 19, 2026, 6:30pm-7:30pm

Author Daniel W. Vandever discusses the pros and cons of traditional and self-publishing and how to figure out which process works best for you. The session details the creative process under each and provides insight into the business aspect of publishing that will determine the reach and overall impact of your story. The session is intended to encourage those who are nearly finished with a picture book
