The Tucson Public Library started out on the top floor of city hall in 1886. Andrew Carnegie gave Tucson a $25,000 grant, which was used to build the first library building located at 200 S. 6th Street (currently the home of the Children’s Museum Tucson). The building was home to the “Main Library” until the completion of the current Main Library on Stone Avenue in May 1990, which consolidated Lib

rary Administration, Technical Services, Periodicals, and Government Reference. Valdez who served as the Tucson City Manager for 16 years and helped create the Downtown Development Corporation. Happy Earth Day! Today we're celebrating our Mexican Sunflowers, which have just started to sprout in the plant case near our Seed Library. The Mexican Sunflower is the star of this year's "One Seed" program, run by the Seed Library of Pima County Public Library.

Come to the 2nd floor of our library to check out the Mexican Sunflower and other seeds for Earth Day today!
