The 12th Annual The Mighty Gobbler 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk returns on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026! This past spring, the organization applied for the Troy Community Foundation Spring 2026 grant and received $500 toward this great event, which supports local charities and food banks, and contributes to the health and recreation of our community.

The event benefits three non-profits: Micah 6 in Pontiac, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers in Oakland/Macomb and Troy People Concerned.

Join the fun and register on their website!
Registrants are asked to bring cans of food to participate in a raffle at the end of the 5K run. The food is donated to the food bank at Troy People Concerned.

• Troy Police Department - Troy, Michigan Halloween Safety Bash (Emergency Vehicle Trunk-Or-Treat)
Date & Time: Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: Troy Police Department (500 W. Big Beaver Rd, Troy, MI 48084)
Details: Trick-or-treating from decorated police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances, plus specialty units and community partners.
Cost: Free (Pre-registration required for trick-or-treating)

• Trick-or-Treat: Under the Sea! at the Troy Historic Village
Date & Time: Friday, October 23, 2026 (5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, early access at 4:00 PM) and Saturday, October 24, 2026 (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, early access at 10:00 AM)
Location: Troy Historic Village (60 W. Wattles Rd, Troy, MI 48098)
Details: Ocean-themed games, crafts, candy, non-scary exhibits, and teal pumpkin options.
Cost: Advance tickets are $5 for members and $9 for non-members ($7 and $10 at the door; under 2 free). Register at Troy Historic Village.

• Tree Trunk or Treat at Turtle Woods
Date & Time: Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Details: Costumed walk through the forest with sweet treats and light refreshments.

• Candy Crawl at Clawson-Troy Elks Lodge # 2169
Date & Time: Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Location: Clawson-Troy Elks Lodge (2549 Elliott St, Troy, MI 48083)

• Jack-O-Lanterns Among The Trees at Stage Nature Center
Date & Time: Saturday, October 24, 2026, in two sessions (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
Location: Stage Nature Center (6685 Coolidge Hwy, Troy, MI 48098)
Details: Walk the illuminated Sugar Maple loop featuring carved pumpkins, live owls, a storyteller, guided night hikes, and educational stations.
Cost: $18 for adults, $8 for children ages 4–12, and free for children under 4. Pre-registration is required at Stage Nature Center.

The Motor City Veterans Hockey Association received $500 from the Troy Community Foundation Spring 2026 Grant Cycle to support its “Summer Engagement Series”. This is a three-month program running from June through August, designed to keep disabled veterans and their families actively connected during a period when structured programming is typically limited. The program centers around consistent, low-barrier engagement opportunities, including two ice hockey sessions per month hosted in Troy, MI, providing veterans with a reliable and therapeutic outlet through physical activity and peer connection.

In addition to the on-ice sessions, the Summer Engagement Series includes a June kickoff BBQ, a July softball outing with a picnic, and a group outing to a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park. These events are intentionally designed to be family-inclusive and accessible to veterans of all ability levels, creating opportunities for social connection beyond the rink.

Together, these activities form a simple but impactful program that promotes routine, strengthens relationships, and supports the mental health and well-being of veterans throughout the summer months.

Motor City Veterans Hockey Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Metro Detroit that provides disabled military veterans with a structured and supportive environment through the game of ice hockey. It operates as part of USA Hockey’s Warrior Hockey discipline, which is specifically designed for disabled veterans and offers regular ice sessions, team practices, competitive tournament play and community-based events.

The Troy Community Foundation's Fall 2026 Grant Cycle application deadline is Monday, Oct. 12, and it awards local groups funds that support our community's youth, seniors, health, recreation, the arts, culture and beautification efforts. Grant awards typically range from $250 to $ 1,000. Apply now on the TCF website (link in comments).

The Berkley/Athens/Troy High United Ski Race Team (BAT) is a high school alpine ski team made up of athletes from Berkley, Troy Athens and Troy High School students. It is a composite team that allows students from multiple schools to compete together in Michigan’s high school ski league. The team races in slalom and giant slalom events, primarily at Pine K**b Ski Resort. Athletes participate in both on-snow and dryland training while building skills, strength and teamwork.

This past spring, the team applied for the Spring 2026 Grant and received $250 from the Troy Community Foundation to support Troy-area youth. These funds helped the team purchase training and competition resources, such as uniforms and training and safety equipment.

We are proud to support a program that offers a competitive yet social environment where students form friendships across schools while developing as ski racers. Congratulations, BAT United Ski Race Team!
