This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice made our freedoms possible, and their legacy lives on in the communities we build together every day.

As we gather with family, friends and neighbors, we remember those who never made it home and hold their loved ones in our hearts.

At the heart of every strong community is gratitude, service and remembrance. Today, we honor those who gave everything and recommit ourselves to creating a future worthy of their sacrifice.

TCF Executive Director Olivia McLaughlin represented the Troy Community Foundation as a Community Engagement Panelist at the Michigan District of Kiwanis One Division Conference this past weekend. She joined Michael L. Schwartz, President of Positive Concepts, LLC, and Chief Josh Jones, of the Troy Police Department - Troy, Michigan, to discuss how communities can come together to strengthen culture and services and provide a sense of belonging.

The panel’s message—focused on collaboration, service and understanding—reflected the shared commitment and pride of this region in being part of such a connected community.

“As we listen and engage, let’s think about how each of us — as individuals, organizations, and partners — can strengthen the fabric of our community through collaboration, service, and understanding.”
-Kiwanis One Community Engagement Panel

Thank you, Olivia, for your leadership and dedication to community engagement.
