A little preparation goes a long way on collection day. Bag all trash, use the correct container size, follow weight limits and keep sharps out of curbside trash.

Properly prepared trash helps protect collection crews, prevent litter and keep service moving safely and efficiently. Prep it right and have it at the curb by 7 a.m. on your normal collection day.

Attention, Troy residents!

The City of Troy now has a new battery recycling container available for Troy residents. Accepted batteries include: alkaline, lithium, lithium-ion, and NiCad.

📍 Please note: The new City of Troy battery recycling container is for Troy residents only. Residents of other SOCRRA communities can still recycle batteries at SOCRRA’s Drop-Off Center with an appointment (www.socrra.org/).

A new way to recycle ♻ Our DPW Facility (4693 Rochester Rd.) has introduced a new battery recycling container for safe disposal of batteries. The container will be available to residents including after business hours and on weekends.

Please do not leave large batteries that are unable to fit in the container or batteries that are leaking, damaged, or swollen. Accepted batteries include Alkaline, lithium, lithium-ion, and NiCad batteries. All other batteries may continue to be recycled at SOCRRA (appointment required).

Proper and safe disposal of batteries prevents fires from starting in garbage trucks and recycling facilities, and helps keep toxic chemicals from entering our soil and water.

Our September and October Saturday drop-off dates are set.

The Drop-off Recycling Center is open two Saturdays each month by appointment only. Appointments become available to reserve two weeks before each drop-off date, so the September 12 date will open for reservations on August 29.

🚫♻️ Keep Tanglers Out of the Recycling Bin

Items like hoses, cords, wires, chains, and string lights do NOT belong in recycling.

⚠️ They cause real problems:
• Wrap around sorting equipment
• Shut down recycling operations
• Create serious safety hazards for workers as they work to untangle the items
