Vaccine of the Month: Hepatitis B

Did you know? The CDC now recommends Hepatitis B vaccination for ALL adults ages 19-59 who have not been vaccinated or have not completed the vaccine series.

Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection that can lead to chronic disease, liver damage, and even liver cancer. The good news? Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect yourself.

Who should get vaccinated?
⭐All adults ages 19-59
⭐Adults 60+ with risk factors:
Having multiple sexual partners or a recent STI.
Living with or being a sexual partner of someone who is HBsAg-positive
(hepatitis B surface antigen).
Injection drug use.
Healthcare or public safety workers exposed to blood or body fluids.
Having chronic liver disease, HIV, or end-stage renal disease.
⭐Pregnant individuals who are unvaccinated
⭐Adults 60+ without known risk factors may also choose to receive the vaccine

Not sure if you've been vaccinated? Contact your healthcare provider or reach out to us to learn more about Hepatitis B vaccination and whether it's right for you.

Protect your health. Protect your liver. Get vaccinated.

Warm weather means more time outside , but it also means tick season is here in Central Illinois.

Our Director of Environmental Health recently spoke with WAND News about the importance of staying aware and protecting yourself and your family from ticks this season.

When spending time outdoors:
• Wear light-colored clothing
• Use EPA-approved insect repellent
• Check yourself, children, and pets for ticks after being outside
• Shower soon after coming indoors

Watch the interview to learn more about tick safety and what to look out for this summer!

Warm weather means more time outdoors, but health officials are warning central Illinois residents to keep an eye out for ticks this season.
