NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

Starting on Thursday, September 10, W. Main Cross from Webster St. to Houston St. will be closed for the installation of the surface course of asphalt. W. Main Cross along with the cross streets will remain closed for several days until all the asphalt is installed and allowed to set.

Once it has set, the road will be reopened to local traffic. Afterwords, work on the boulevards in project limits will continue as they will be graded, raked, tilled and seeded.

Today, the Chief received a message. Seeing someone work hard to change their life is what makes recovery so special.

It’s a team effort TPD believes in recovery and encouraging those fighting addiction. Recovery isn’t easy if it were, everyone would be addiction free. It takes courage, strength, and determination.

Late last night, Taylorville Police conducted a search in Valley View Mobile Home Park following an investigation. Thank you to our States Attorney for approving the warrant and the Judge who came to our police department to view and sign great team work.

Mr. Skinner is facing charges related to the delivery of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon while on probation.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

I want to thank our team for the long hours and dedication that go into these investigations. Seeing our Deputy Chief and Lieutenant walking through the park alongside our officers, ready to make entry, is true leadership.

To those who continue trying to poison our community and tempt people fighting addiction: we will not tolerate it. One person put it best if you’re selling drugs in Taylorville, you have a shelf life like a grocery store individuals may be buying today, but eventually, you will expire. We know who you are.

Our city deserves better, and we will remain relentless in protecting it.

Wrong Place, Right Person 😂

The Police Chief woke up this morning to his family alerting him that a gentleman had apparently decided the Chief’s front yard looked like a pretty safe place to get some sleep.

Maybe he knew exactly whose yard he picked… or maybe it was just the wrong place at the wrong time.

Either way, knowing the Chief, we’re pretty sure the morning ended with a little compassion, some help, and making sure the gentleman was okay.

You just never know what a day in law enforcement is going to bring!

HONORING THE LIFE OF SERGEANT CHRIS FISHER: May you rest in God’s eternal peace.

Two children lost their dad.

A wife lost her husband.

And a Georgia community lost a man who dedicated his life to serving others.

Sgt. Chris Fisher of the Warm Springs Police Department was killed in the line of duty Tuesday night. Chris was a U.S. Army veteran and a dedicated police officer who had served with several sheriff’s offices across Georgia before joining the Warm Springs Police Department just three months ago.

But Chris was never just a badge or a uniform. He was a husband. A dad. A son. A friend. A fellow officer who cared so much about the people he served. He always talked to kids when he was out on patrol. He took the time to let people know they mattered.

Now his wife and two children are facing the unimaginable task of learning how to live without him. There are no words that can fill that space.

But Chris deserves to be remembered for the life he lived, the people he served and the family who loved him. Please keep his wife, his children, his parents, his loved ones and his law enforcement family close to your heart.

The Taylorville Police Department is aware of a power outage affecting Springfield Road from Walmart to Cheney Avenue.

⚠️ Please use extra caution while traveling through the area!

Traffic signals are currently affected. Treat all non-functioning stoplights as STOP SIGNS and proceed through intersections carefully.

Please slow down, stay alert, and watch for other drivers who may not be aware of the outage.
