The Sanderson Sisters have returned! 🧙‍♀️🎃💜

But don’t panic! These three are trading their broomsticks for candy buckets and hunting down chocolate instead of children! 🍫🍬

These little witches were definitely among our favorite costumes of the evening!

It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus! ✨

🎃🍁 What a FUN evening at The Great Autumn Gathering!

The Connell House was full of excitement last night! We handed out lots of candy and light-up necklaces while welcoming everyone from doctors and firemen to Wizard of Oz characters and even a werewolf! 🐺

We had an absolute blast, and we think Bob and Sid, one of our newest board members, may have had the most fun of all! 😂

A very special thank you to Noah and Carlos, two wonderful young men who cheerfully jumped right in to help throughout the evening and even stayed for cleanup! They truly made a world of difference!

And, as always, our wonderful director, Micki, kept everything running smoothly! ❤️

A big thank you to the Martin County Chamber of Commerce for bringing our community together for such a fantastic evening! We loved being part of it! 🎃🍂

Mr. Louder we thank you so much for nominating us for this honor!
We are truly honored to be recognized in this way!

Cotton is an important part of Martin County’s history and remains just as vital today! We’re currently developing an exhibit in our Industry area to showcase its significance. While locals know how much cotton means to our community, we want visitors from near and far to understand its importance, too!

Stop in for a visit….and again thank you Johnny and thank you Deltapine! And thank you KBest for this feature!

READ ABOUT IT! Martin County Historical Museum Recognized Through National Cotton Industry Program

STANTON, Texas — The Martin County Historical Museum in Stanton has been selected as a recipient of Deltapine's 2026 Committed to Cotton Communities program, recognizing the museum's contributions to preserving local history and serving the community.

The program honors nonprofit organizations that make a positive impact in rural communities, particularly those with strong ties to agriculture and the cotton industry.

Stanton resident and cotton grower Johnny Louder nominated the Martin County Historical Museum, recognizing its role in preserving the history and heritage of Martin County.

The museum was among organizations selected in the Texas/West region as part of the nationwide initiative, which allows cotton growers to nominate nonprofit organizations making a difference in their communities.

Deltapine, a cottonseed brand, established the Committed to Cotton Communities program to recognize and support organizations that strengthen and sustain agricultural communities.

The recognition highlights the importance of preserving the region's agricultural heritage, including cotton farming's role in Martin County's development and economy.

While the announcement identified the museum as a program recipient, it did not specify whether the organization would receive a monetary award or the amount of any potential funding.

The Martin County Historical Museum preserves and shares the area's history with residents and future generations.

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual meeting tonight!

Our new board president, Bob Wilson, gave a wonderful update on the state of the museum and all that has been accomplished over the past year.

We have all but completed Phase 1—our South Hall—and have begun Phase 2, which will focus on Military & Industry. We also completed our lovely new kitchen, and Bob shared some of our hopes and plans for a new “firehouse” to house Stanton’s newly renovated first fire truck!

He also invited those attending to share ideas for future fundraisers and other funding opportunities as we continue moving forward. We are always grateful for the ideas, encouragement and support of our community.

And what better way to visit afterward than with an old-fashioned bottled Coke and a bag of peanuts!

It was a great evening of sharing where we’ve been, where we are, and where we hope to go.

Thank you to everyone who came and spent the evening with us. We are so grateful for your continued support of the Martin County Historical Museum!

Corky Blocker was a lifelong member of our community, and his years of service to Martin County are only part of the story he leaves behind. He will also be remembered for his kindness, his friendship, and his genuine love for the people and place he called home.

We were fortunate to have Corky visit the museum over the years. This photograph of Corky with Mr. Welch was taken at a museum reception before our renovation. Mr. Welch was a fine man as well, and looking at this photograph reminds us how blessed Martin County has been to call men like these our own.

We would love for those who knew Corky to share a favorite memory or story in the comments. Those memories are part of Martin County history too.

Our thoughts are with his family and the many people who loved him. He will be missed.

Congratulations to Charles "Corky" Blocker for being the 2026 Danny Ireton Community Service Award winner. A big thank you to him for serving our community.
