Sebago Historical Society

Sebago Historical Society Our building is located at 347 Convene Road in Sebago. It was built in 1844 as the Freewill Baptist Church. You can still sit in the original pews! Come visit us!

One hundred years later it became the Nazarene Church. In 1996 the town of Sebago purchased the building for the Historical Society. The building is open for visitors on the 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday of June, July and August from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. We have many displays, photos and interesting objects relating to the history of the Town of Sebago that we would like to share with you. You may

also visit at other times by appointment. The Historical Society meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm. You are very welcome to join us. Membership dues are just $10 per year. As a member, you will receive our quarterly newsletter, Sebago Echoes. You will also meet some very interesting people who have fascinating stories to tell about Sebago history and who are interested in preserving that history.

The Sebago Historical Society’s next program will be MAIL DELIVERY IN SEBAGO - IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS. Diana Letellier, one of our older members, will be recounting her experiences as a contract carrier, with memories of stories that her grandfather told her when he delivered mail.
Join us for a look back down memory lane at what some of you never knew existed – reliable mail delivery.
Pictured is Al Martin, Diana's grandfather, carrying the bag of mail up Wiggin's Hill in N. Baldwin. They didn't plow the road, so he had to carry it through the snow to the Post Office.

Sebago Days 2026, our annual town summer fling, will honor the 200th anniversary of Sebago with a special event-filled celebration in July. We have made a special bicentennial t-shirt, which will be on sale at our potluck dinner/dance being held Saturday May 2 from 5-8:30. Could you help fund the t shirt project with a small contribution? $5, $10, anything you care to give would be much appreciated!
If you wish to contribute, your name will be entered in a free drawing for this handmade quilt, donated by Sebago Historical Society. In compliance with Maine gambling laws, you do not have to contribute to be entered in the drawing.
To make a donation with PayPal, Venmo or credit card, use this link: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/Z9KFEES3FTMNQ
or the QR code below.
If you wish to enter the drawing without a donation, email your name and phone number to [email protected].
Be sure to attend Sebago Days this summer, July 17-19. Let's make it the best one ever!
