Baldwin Fire Department responded as mutual aid to Cornish for a well involved structure fire, assisting Cornish Fire Department, Kezar Falls Fire Department, and Hiram Fire Department on scene. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions that had already heavily damaged a large portion of the structure, while part of the building remained intact.

Crews assisted with exterior fire suppression operations, as well as primary and secondary searches of the remaining structure to confirm no occupants were inside. Once the main body of fire was knocked down, firefighters conducted overhaul operation to locate and extinguish remaining hotspots hidden within the structure.

Baldwin Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid to Hiram for a reported woods fire.

Upon arrival, crews found an active fire burning within a freshly cut lot that had extended into the surrounding wood line. Baldwin firefighters assisted crews from Cornish Fire Department, Kezar Falls Fire Department, Hiram Fire Department and Limington Fire Department with fire suppression, containment, and overhaul operations.

Firefighters utilized forestry equipment, hand tools, and hose lines to work the perimeter of the fire and prevent further spread through the wooded area. Due to dry conditions and the amount of slash and debris within the cut lot, crews spent an extended period extinguishing hotspots and reinforcing containment lines.

Through coordinated efforts between all responding departments, the fire was successfully contained and extinguished. Baldwin units were later cleared from the scene and returned to quarters.

Due to the weather conditions today no burn permits will be issued.
