Imagine being removed from your home—and then having to leave your school, your friends, your teachers, and your entire community behind, too.

For many children entering foster care in Marin, that’s the reality.

Right now, 35% of Marin’s foster children are placed outside the county because there simply aren’t enough local foster homes available.

We can change that. 💙

Every new foster family creates another opportunity for a child to remain close to the familiar people, routines, and places that can provide connection and stability during an incredibly difficult time.

You don’t have to know if fostering is right for you to start the conversation. You just have to be curious.

Ask questions. Learn what fostering really looks like. Hear from people who have done it. There’s no pressure and no commitment.

💙 DM us to start a conversation or register for an upcoming online orientation with Children & Family Services at https://foster.marinhhs.org/content/resource-family-orientation-dates. The next one is this Thursday, September 10th at 7pm.

A first job can be about so much more than a paycheck. 💛

We recently launched a new internship program for transition-age foster youth—connecting young adults with local businesses where they can gain real-world work experience, build new skills, and grow their confidence.

Meet Maria, who is learning the ins and outs of being a barista at Three Little Words Coffee Co at the Marin Civic Center. ☕️ From learning new skills to interacting with customers and becoming more comfortable on the job, Maria is gaining experience she can carry with her wherever she goes next. And as you’ll hear from the business owner, one of the most rewarding parts has been watching Maria’s confidence grow along the way.

Housing. Mentorship. Internships. Opportunity. These are all pieces of the wraparound support we’re building to help transition-age foster youth take their next steps toward independence.

And we’re just getting started. 💙

If you’re open to offering an internship, please DM us.

Foster kids in our community need caring adults who are willing to step in—offering a safe, supportive place to land while their parents work toward stability. 💛

Could that be you?

There are different ways to make a meaningful difference:

✨ Become a resource (foster) parent and open your home to a child who needs temporary care.

✨ Become a Friend of the Family and provide short-term respite and support for foster parents.

You don’t have to have all the answers. If you’ve raised children, supported families, or simply have a heart for helping kids, we’d love to get to know you.

📅 Sign up for the next online orientation:
September 10 at 7 PM

Learn more and register through the link in our bio or at foster.marinhhs.org.

Not sure which role is right for you? DM us to learn more.

💙 Cheers to our incredible resource families! 💙

A huge thank you to all of our amazing resource families who joined us for our recent dinner out at East Brother Beer Co. ! We loved spending time together over great food, engaging company, fun games, and plenty of laughs. 🎉

Most of all, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with both new and old friends and celebrate the incredible community that makes foster care stronger.

We’re so grateful for the care, compassion, and commitment you bring to the kids in our community. 💙

Every child has dreams. Sometimes, all they need is the opportunity to explore them. 💙

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our Opportunity Project grants help bring those dreams to life.

For one young person, that dream was learning pottery on a real pottery wheel. What started as curiosity became a chance to create, build confidence, and discover a new passion.

Whether it's pottery, music lessons, sports, summer camp, or another enriching experience, these opportunities help children and youth in foster care discover their strengths, express themselves, and simply enjoy being kids.

To everyone who supports the Opportunity Project—thank you. Your generosity opens doors, nurtures confidence, and reminds young people that their dreams matter.✨

Summer evenings are even better when they're spent with our community. 💙🎶

We had a wonderful time at Live on the Avenue in downtown San Anselmo, meeting local families, answering questions about foster care, and sharing ways our community can make a difference.

Our newest kid-friendly game was a huge hit (and the prizes didn't hurt either! 😉). Most importantly, every conversation helped shine a light on the need for more support for local children and families impacted by foster care.

✨ There's still one more chance to catch us this summer on September 5th!

Stop by and learn how you can help foster hope right here in our community.💛

Every child deserves the chance to stay connected to the people and places that help them feel safe.

Right now, 35% of children entering foster care in Marin County are placed outside the county because we simply don't have enough foster families. That means leaving behind their schools, friends, teachers, coaches, and the community they know—all during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

It's heartbreaking that we have to advertise for foster families. But the need is real, and every new foster home can mean one more child stays close to the people and places that matter most.

If you've ever wondered whether fostering might be right for you, we'd love to have a conversation. No pressure. No commitment. Just honest answers to your questions and a chance to learn more.

💙 Send us a DM or register for an online orientation with Children & Family Services at https://foster.marinhhs.org/content/resource-family-orientation-dates. We'd love to share our experiences and help you explore whether fostering could be part of your story.
