Glynn County History—Sharing Our Recipes at the Table

A fun way to find common ground with folks is always over a delicious dish! I thought it would be nice to run a series of some of our favorite dishes from local cookbooks and chefs.

Here's another delightful dish from the Frederica Fare Cookbook (1977 edition).

Crab Stuffed Potatoes (page 120)

4 baking potatoes
1 6 1/2 oz. can crabmeat
1/2 c. butter
1/12 c. light cream
1 t. salt
4 t. grated onion
1 c. sharp cheese, grated
1/2 t. paprika

Bake potatoes as usual. When easily pierced with a fork, cut lengthwise and scoop out potato. Whip with butter, cream, salt, pepper, onion and cheese. With a fork, mix in crabmeat and refill shells. Sprinkle with paprika and reheat in hot oven for about 15 minutes. Better if frozen.

SSI Book-to-Film Series

Experience an American classic on the page and on the screen in this season's Book-to-Film Series! During the first week of each month, we'll read a timeless work of American fiction, discuss the book, and watch its film adaptation. Join us for thoughtful discussion, behind-the-scenes trivia, a little celebrity gossip, and plenty of fun! Library programs are free and open to the public.

Book discussions take place on Tuesdays in Room 108 of the Casino Building, and film screenings take place on Thursdays in the Casino Theater.

**Our first class begins on Thursday, September 10 at 12 PM**

Come learn and practice French in a friendly, relaxed, conversation-based class. Whether you're just getting started or looking to sharpen your skills, all experience levels are welcome. Classes meet in Room 114 of the Casino Building. Library programs are free and open to the public.

SSI Golden Isles Strummers Rehearsals

**Our first rehearsal will be on Wednesday, September 9 at 2 PM**

Enjoy the sounds of the Golden Isles Strummers as they rehearse in the Atrium of the Casino Building! Grab a chair, relax, and experience this talented local ukulele group in a casual, welcoming setting. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. The Saint Simons Island Library will begin a new Book to Film Series in September featuring classic American novels and the great films adapted from them. The series begins with a discussion of Edith Wharton's Age of Innocence on Tuesday, September 8th, and continues on Thursday, September 10th, with the screening of Martin Scorsese's film starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Winona Ryder.

Both the book discussion and the film will begin at 1:00 PM. Our book discussion will be held in Room 114. The film will be screened in the Casino Theater.
