Turns out, chasing sunshine takes some serious technology. For the second installment of our California Manufacturing Month series, we're spotlighting Asteelflash in Milpitas!

Inside this high-tech facility, skilled workers and precision machines produce about 4,500 circuit boards a week for Nextpower. These small but mighty components enable solar panels to follow the sun, playing a big role in projects like the Darden Clean Energy Project in Fresno County.

Smart technology, manufactured right here in California, is making a big impact!

Did you know that energy efficiency delivers benefits we rarely see, prevents problems we never experience, and eliminates costs we never have to pay.

Think about how many devices you plug in. Now what if they didn’t have energy efficiency standards? Think air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, computers, anything with a rechargeable battery — those extra costs would really add up. Boo.

The California Energy Commission was created more than 50 years ago to develop efficiency standards that help advance product innovation so that our favorite gadgets use less energy, and often do the job better.

That means Californians can continue to enjoy the appliances that make life easier without interruption. All while saving a little money.

Of the $67M approved today, $34M will help transit systems & school districts transition to electric buses, reduce air pollution, & support the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games in LA. The projects will install more than 265 fast charging ports & more than 120 Level 2 charging ports. Other grants support long duration energy storage systems, virtual power plants, and more.

Congratulations to 2026 Clean Energy Hall of Fame honoree Kecia Washington!

For more than 30 years, Kecia has worked to make sure Los Angeles’ clean energy future creates opportunities for the people who call it home. From introducing young women to utility careers to helping foster youth build pathways into energy and water jobs, she has made equity part of the equation.

Her impact also reaches across Los Angeles’ clean energy economy, from helping launch the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator to advancing workforce development and economic opportunity in underserved communities. Her work is opening doors today while building pathways for the next generation.
