πŸ“πŸ“ The strawberries may be the reason people stop by, but the impact goes much further!

The Florin Historical Society Strawberry Festival helps raise money for the Society Scholarship Fund, supporting deserving high school students in the District who maintain high GPAs.

Five Florin High School graduates will be receiving scholarships from the Florin Historical Society scholarship fund, Nancy O’Flaherty Family scholarship fund, Newman Family scholarship fund, and Judette Kara Rippetoe scholarship fund.

The festival begins at 11am, while the ceremony begins at 12pm.

This is what 70 Years in Motion can look like outside of a park or pool: a community tradition that honors local history while investing in the students who will help shape what comes next!

πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“ Some events feel like they belong exactly where they are.

The 2026 Strawberry Festival, hosted by the Florin Historical Society, is one of those days featuring fresh strawberries, local vendors, family activities, raffles, and neighbors coming together for a tradition rooted in Florin community pride.

It is simple in the best ways: come out, walk around, bring the family, eat some strawberries, support local history, and enjoy a summer afternoon close to home!

As Southgate celebrates 70 Years in Motion, this festival reminds us that community keeps moving through the traditions people continue to support, year after year.

A lot of summer memories start at the pool from first jumps, wet footprints on the deck, kids calling β€œwatch me,” to families trying to stay cool on a hot Sacramento day.

But before the cannonballs and goggles come the basics that matter most: comfort in the water, knowing what to do, and learning skills that help keep everyone safe.

On Thursday, June 25, join us for the World’s Largest Swim Lesson at Christine Thompson Aquatic Center. Participants will take part in a free 30-minute swim lesson together, focused on aquatic safety and the importance of learning how to swim.

This is what confidence in motion looks like in the water. Families learning together, kids building confidence in the water, and our community taking one steady step toward a safer summer!
