From behavioral health and wildfire prevention to responsible AI and supportive housing, California counties are developing local solutions to meet their communities’ unique needs.
During her visit to Marin County, CSAC President and County of Santa Clara, Supervisor Susan Ellenberg toured the historic Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium and learned about the county’s work to address sea-level rise, connect residents with behavioral health support through CARE Court, and reduce wildfire risk through initiatives such as the FIRE Foundry workforce development program.
Thank you to Supervisors Eric Lucan, Dennis Rodoni, Mary Sackett and Brian Colbert for hosting the visit and highlighting the county’s priorities.
In Alameda County, Supervisor David Haubert and County Administrator Susan Muranishi hosted President Ellenberg for a discussion of Vision 2036 and a tour of the Alameda County Information Technology Department. Staff demonstrated how responsible uses of technology are helping departments work more efficiently under a countywide generative AI policy.
The visit also included Trust Health Center (Alameda County Health), where health and housing services are available under one roof, and a former hotel transformed through California Department of Housing & Community Development's Homekey program.
Together, these visits demonstrated how counties are bringing people, programs and technology together to address complex challenges and strengthen their communities.
