Tacoma Fire is now accepting applications for entry-level firefighters!

If you’ve been thinking about joining TFD, now is your chance. The deadline for applications is 5:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2026.

If you are interested in learning more about the Tacoma Fire Department’s hiring process and our expectations, we are holding three general information sessions to cover these topics and other frequently asked questions. Sessions take place on October 13 (5:30pm-7pm) and October 17 (9am-10:30am & 12pm-1:30pm).

*Qualifications for lateral pay program requires dual Firefighter-Paramedic certifications and employment as a fulltime Firefighter or Paramedic for a not-for-profit or government public safety agency (Municipal/County agency, Emergency Service District, Fire or EMS District) that provides 911 emergency services, at the time of application.
