Join us at the Gender Health Center for a yoga session designed to help you rest and rejuvenate. Whether you are navigating stress, chronic pain, or medical transition recovery, this affirming space is built entirely around your comfort and well-being. Seasoned yoga instructor Hatha Holistic Integrative Wellness with Jushin Misia Denéa (they/them) has created an incredible workshop for our community.

In this special 101 workshop, we gently blend four powerful practices:
✨Iyengar Yoga: Safe, alignment-focused movement using props to support your unique body.
✨Therapeutic & Restorative Yoga: relaxing poses to soothe your nervous system.
✨Gentle Yoga: Slow, accessible yoga poses to build soft strength and mobility.
✨Pranayama 101: Simple, life-changing breathing techniques to anchor your mind and reduce anxiety.

No flexible joints or prior yoga experience required. Come exactly as you are. Wear your most comfortable clothes, bring an open heart, and leave feeling grounded, spacious, and deeply cared for.

🍂 Mental health professionals and students: how are you sustaining yourself for the long haul?

This September, GHC’s FREE Continuing Education Program welcomes Jenn Larsh (she/her), AMFT and certified NTU™ psychotherapist, for a restorative and practical exploration of self-preservation through the NTU™ Psychotherapy Framework—an African-centered therapeutic approach.

Together, we’ll explore the difference between self-care and self-preservation and consider how tending to ourselves can strengthen our capacity to tend to our communities—without burnout becoming the cost of doing meaningful work.

August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day, a day to honor those we've lost by continuing the fight to end overdose.

At the Gender Health Center, we’re proud to offer overdose prevention and response services in Sacramento, including free naloxone (Narcan) and guidance on how to use it during an opioid emergency. Naloxone only reverses overdoses caused by opioids, so knowing when and how to use it matters. Meeting people where they are and looking out for one another helps create safer, healthier communities.

Good news: for folxs seeking treatment, California is the first state to offer same-day support for opioid-related care. To get help, call 1-800-944-1807 or text 1-833-308-0461.

HIV is a public health issue shaped by inequity, stigma, and barriers to care. In the U.S. South, the burden remains especially high with the region accounted for 52% of new HIV diagnoses in 2022, while 14% of people living with HIV did not know their status. In California, HIV remains an important public health concern as well, reinforcing the need for testing, prevention, treatment, and community action. Today the Gender Health Center is raising awareness to support routine testing, promote prevention tools and call for community-led solutions that make care more equitable and accessible.

Get tested and know your status, share trusted resources, and support HIV prevention and treatment efforts in your community today. Our awareness matters now but your action will change the HIV care outcomes.

There is no shame in seeking STI prevention. On the contrary, looking out for your health and the health of those you share sexual intimacy with carries a badge of honor. Start your sexual health journey today at the Gender Health Center, where we can provide these services directly or connect you with the right people. You can call us or drop in during business hours for resources or referrals or to order prevention supplies to be mailed out your way.

Community care needs resources and we’re so grateful for this investment in ours. 🏳️‍⚧️❤️

Gender Health Center is honored to be one of 13 beneficiaries of the NorCal AIDS Cycle (NCAC)! 🎉

NCAC’s unrestricted funding will directly support our growing sexual health services and Syringe Services Program (SSP) helping us fill critical gaps at a time when HIV prevention and services for people living with HIV are facing significant divestment.

Our work centers the holistic wellness of transgender and gender-diverse folx, including supporting community across the HIV Care Continuum.

Through our services and healthcare partnerships, that looks like:

✨ HIV testing
✨ Linkage to & retention in care
✨ PrEP access
✨ Access to antiretroviral therapy (ART)
✨ Syringe services & harm reduction
✨ Linkage to medication-assisted treatment (MAT)

Because ending HIV means meeting people where they are with care, dignity, resources, and zero judgment.

And unrestricted funding matters. It gives us the flexibility to respond to what community actually needs, when they need it.

This funding helps us fill the gaps so we can keep showing up for community. Always.💜

To everyone who rides, volunteers, organizes, donates, and supports the NorCal AIDS Cycle: thank you. We’re incredibly proud to be part of this work alongside you. 🚲❤️
