It's farmers market season, and African Alliance of Rhode Island
will be at the St. Martin De Porres Center on June 27th from 9 AM to 12 PM for their pop-up! You can expect: Food • Art • Culture and Health in Rhode Island.

The market offers fresh local produce, eggs, and fruits. SNAP, WIC, and SFMNP are accepted. AARI offers $5 Bami bucks, with music from DJ Flip, activities, and local resources from our community partners. Enjoy AARI cooking demonstrations and so much more!

All RI residents are welcome to join AARI this season!

Today we observe Juneteenth — not just as a holiday, but as a reminder of resilience, community, and the long road toward true freedom and equality.

Freedom means more than the absence of chains. It means having a safe place to live. The ability to build wealth. The right to put down roots in a community and call it home.

Our communities are stronger because of the families who crossed borders, oceans, and barriers to build a life here. The parents who learned a new language so their children wouldn't have to struggle. The grandparents who carried their culture across continents and planted it right here in Rhode Island.

At ONE Neighborhood Builders, we believe every family deserves a safe, stable place to call home — no matter where they come from.

A new report from Rhode Island’s Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner just confirmed something the communities we work in have been living for years: access to healthcare isn’t equal — and where you live, what you earn, and what language you speak all play a role.

The disparities are stark: 1 in 3 Hispanic Rhode Islanders has no regular doctor, low-income families are 4x more likely to go without primary care. Less than half of Medicaid enrollees had a wellness visit last year.

At ONB, we know that housing and health are inseparable. Families living in unsafe, overcrowded, or unstable housing face more chronic illness, more stress, and more barriers to getting care. And when primary care access is already scarce for low-income and Hispanic Rhode Islanders — the same neighbors we serve every day — those gaps compound.

at Riverside Park in Providence.

Farm Fresh RI’s Broad Street Farmers Market opened June 6th at 807 Broad St., every Saturday from 8am–12pm through October.

And it may cost you less than you think! Here’s what’s available:

🌿 SENIORS (60+): The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program offers eligible low-income seniors a $50 benefit card for fresh produce, herbs, and honey. Contact the RI Office of Healthy Aging to apply.

👶 WIC Participants: Enrolled families receive additional Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons for fresh fruits and vegetables — on top of regular benefits.

During NeighborWorks Week, we proudly celebrate Community Health Workers and Resident Services Coordinators who show up every day for our residents with compassion, dedication, and heart. Their work includes addressing housing instability, navigating crises, managing complex systems, and connecting residents with essential resources, advocacy, supportive services, and care.

Martine has been a Resident Services Coordinator and Case Manager at ONB for nearly five years. In her role, she assists with eviction prevention efforts, case management, SNAP, and benefits enrollment. She connects residents to community resources and supports individuals with mental health needs by coordinating their care and linking them to behavioral health services. Additionally, she ensures housing compliance by conducting inspections and collaborating with property management and service providers.

Programs Martine can help connect residents with include:

During NeighborWorks Week, we proudly celebrate Community Health Workers and Resident Services Coordinators who show up every day for our residents with compassion, dedication, and heart. Their work includes addressing housing instability, navigating crises, managing complex systems, and connecting residents with essential resources, advocacy, supportive services, and care.

Claudia serves as one of our Resident Services Coordinators and has been with ONB for nearly five years. In her role, she maintains close contact with residents to assess their needs and connect them with resources. Her focus is on promoting housing stability, financial well-being, and quality of life. Claudia supports residents in pursuing educational and career opportunities, helping them complete their GED, explore vocational certifications, enroll in college, and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

Programs Claudia can help connect residents with include:
