Looks like our new addition to the DCDA team is really getting into the spirit of things! 👻

From haunting DA Parisi and Chief ADA Brady to answering phones at reception and making a coffee run, our newest office visitor is certainly making themselves at home.

We're still investigating how they got past security, but so far, they haven't been charged with anything... yet.

Happy Halloween from the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office!

It was a beautiful day on the Walkway Over the Hudson, with the sun shining and the fall foliage providing the perfect backdrop for an important community event! 💜

I was proud to join Family Services and members of our community for the Purple Walk to end Domestic Violence. Events like these remind us of the importance of standing together, raising awareness, and supporting survivors. No one should have to face domestic violence alone.

Thank you to Family Services for organizing such a meaningful event and to everyone who came out to show their support. It was wonderful to see our community come together for such an important cause!

The DCDA Office was proud to participate in Dutchess Outreach’s Susan DeKeukelaere Memorial Coat Drive, which helps provide warm winter clothing to individuals and families in need throughout our community.

Thanks to the generosity of our staff, we collected coats, hats, and gloves to help our neighbors stay warm this winter. A special shoutout to Kristi Farley for organizing the collection within our office and helping make this effort a success!

Last week, members of the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office attended the Arson & Explosives for Prosecutors course in Saratoga County, joining prosecutors, fire investigators, and other experts for three days of specialized training.

The course provided valuable insight into fire science, origin and cause determination, forensic evidence, and best practices for investigating and prosecuting arson cases. Through expert presentations, hands-on case analysis, and live demonstrations, attendees strengthened their knowledge of the complex challenges involved in these investigations.

From vehicle fires to controlled explosions, the training offered an opportunity to see firsthand the science and investigative techniques behind these cases.

We appreciate the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, ATF, and all the experts who shared their knowledge and experience to help strengthen our ability to pursue justice and protect our community.

Yesterday, we were honored to take part in the Honor-A-Veteran ceremony recognizing U.S. Army Specialist and Vietnam Veteran Edward “Hoppy” Fischer.

ADA Daniel Walker was in attendance to present Hoppy’s family with a proclamation and challenge coin on behalf of District Attorney Anthony Parisi, recognizing Hoppy’s service and sacrifice to our country.

Though Hoppy is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through the family, friends, and colleagues who gathered at the Pleasant Valley Fire House to celebrate his life and the impact he made on those around him.

The heartfelt ceremony was a reminder that a veteran’s service is never forgotten, and their spirit continues to shine through the people and community they leave behind. We are grateful for the opportunity to honor Hoppy’s life, service, and lasting legacy.

Today, we had the honor of celebrating John Yurus, a 102-year-old World War II Navy veteran, as the honoree at the Veteran of Distinction ceremony.

ADA Winter Vega presented Mr. Yurus with a proclamation and challenge coin on behalf of District Attorney Anthony Parisi in recognition of his service and dedication to our country.

Mr. Yurus brought his wonderful sense of humor to the ceremony, repeatedly reminding everyone of his Navy spirit with his enthusiastic refrain, “Always faithful!” His humor, patriotism, and enduring spirit made the occasion especially memorable.

We are proud to recognize Mr. Yurus for his service and sacrifice and thank him for being an inspiration to our community.

Thank you for your service, Mr. Yurus. Always faithful!
