🚨🚨BEDFORD TOWNSHIP VOTER 🚨🚨
On Tuesday, November 3rd, we graciously ask for your support to pass this 0.5 mill fire and other emergency services (rescue) levy. If passed, the levy would generate approximately $17,676 annually, and benefit the services that the Pomeroy Fire Department provides to Bedford Township and its residents. If passed, this increase would amount to $17 per $100,000 of the county auditor’s market value.
This proposed levy, when paired with another, ten year old levy, puts the township at one total mill of fire protection. Pomeroy village residents currently pay 6 mills of protection for the same response equipment and personnel afforded to township residents. When disbursed, the levy funds allow the department to pay for operations of the fire department including fuel, vehicle maintenance, PPE for members, training expenses, equipment and tools, worker’s compensation and insurance that must be covered on all members. As department officials have began looking at a new fire apparatus, it became apparent that all of those benefitting from our department’s resources should pay an equitable amount for their fire protection costs.
As we know, tax increases are hard on everyone no matter where you reside. The department has held off on asking for additional millage, but unfortunately our expenses have increased like all others. The number of fire department runs in Bedford Township continue to rise, and will continue to do so as the new 4-lane U.S. 33 opens in 2028.
We appreciate your continued support and ask for a vote “For the Tax Levy”, on Tuesday, November 3rd. For $17 per $100,000, we feel this is a great time for all to show their support of your fire department.
