Meigs County School Resource Officers This page is to serve as a link between the SRO's and the public by providing information about activities and events that our SRO'S are involved in.

The SRO program was introduced to the county when Sheriff Keith Wood took office in 2013. Sheriff Wood started the program having only one SRO to cover just a few of the school buildings in the county. Today the program has grown to three SRO's who cover all the schools in the county. The SRO's alternate between the school buildings throughout the day to better serve and provide assistance at a pa

rticular building when needed. About the SRO’s:
Our SRO's voluntarily took the position to work in the schools, and have a strong passion for the job they do. Over time they hope to build a relationship with not only the School staff, but with the students. By developing this relationship, they feel it will promote good behavior, and potentiality deter the students from making poor choices that could result in criminal charges. Our primary goal is not to put the students into the criminal justice system, but to educate them, and teach them a good life style that will keep them out of that system. The SRO'S are currently teaching anti-drug and alcohol abuse programs to students, 6th-12th grades, and also provide one-on-one counseling to them when needed. This lists just a few of the roles our SRO’s have within the schools. Another year of D.A.R.E with the Eastern Local 6th graders! This is my 4th dare class at eastern! Huge thanks to Loyalty is Forever, Meigs County Sheriff Scott Fitch, Angie Weeks, Eastern Local FFA and Eastern food service for making this possible. I also want to give a huge shout out to Mrs. Houck for giving me some of her class time to teach this great class!

Today COSI visited Eastern Local School District as well as our Meigs County Sheriff's Office new sheriff, Sheriff Scott Fitch and also, our newest commissioner, Zach Manuel. It’s great to see our public servants caring about our Meigs County students! Huge thanks to the Joe Burrow Foundation and Mrs. Burrow our Elementary Principal for putting this on for our kids!
