Preschool - 6th grade elementary school. Desert View affords students a rich curriculum aligned to Arizona College and Career Ready Standards.

Desert View Elementary School, in the Washington Elementary School District, serves approximately 500 prekindergarten through sixth grade children. Our school boundaries extend north to parts of Hatcher Avenue all the way south to Northern Avenue, and from 16th Street on the east to points on Central Avenue on the west. Our school vision is: Every teacher, engaging every child, every day. We are committed to our Continuous Improvement Plan, which focuses on instructional practices. Staff meets to plan and use data to make decisions to best meet the needs of all students every day. Staff works together to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) model. The structure of RTI is designed to provide Desert View students with added academic support. Teachers focus on increased student engagement and academic growth for all. Desert View School implements the PBIS School-wide discipline program. All students follow the rule, “be safe, be respectful, be responsible.”

Congratulations to Desert View’s employee of the month, Ms. Vanesa!
Not only is she a one on one aide, she goes above and beyond by supporting multiple teachers and providing positive interactions with all students she interacts with.
As one teacher says, “Ms. Vanesa is such a generous person! She cares, is self driven, and embodies peace and strength.”
In describing her in just three words, one student says it best: “She is helpful, encouraging, and kind!”
Thank you, Ms. Vanesa for your dedication and contribution to Desert View!

Last week our district raised money for North Phoenix Kiwanis Club. They fund many of our district’s projects, including dictionaries for every 3rd grade student. Our school ended up raising over $600! The top 3 fundraising classes get to pick 3 staff members to pie in the face. Could it be any of our staff who went to the walk-a-thon??

Great job, Norsemen!!
