😂 A behind the scenes look at how our students were DEFINITELY posing for picture day! 👀

Rest assured these are strictly practice runs and the real photos were very much spared! 😇 But can we just take a moment to appreciate the commitment and range these kids brought?! We have got smizers, we have got dramatic gazes, we have got full on jazz hands energy — truly something for everyone! 😄

Can't wait to see those final photos come back, and remember - retakes are always an option. Picture retake day will be 12/10!

🎃 Fall Spirit Week is coming up and things are about to get VERY fun at Simis! 👀

October 26 to 30 is Fall Spirit Week and we are kicking off the week of Trunk or Treat in the most festive way possible! Here is what to wear each day:

👾 Monday 10/26: Dress Like a Monster
🍌 Tuesday 10/27: Gru vs. Minions — kids come as Minions and teachers will bring their best Gru! 😄 This one is going to be GOOD!
🎩 Wednesday 10/28: Hat Day
🍂 Thursday 10/29: Wear black, orange, and all things fall!
🎃 Friday 10/30: Dress like a pumpkin

Dorian will be at Simis on Friday, October 23rd to capture those beautiful student smiles and every student will be getting their photo taken! 🌟 Here is everything you need to know before Friday:

📋 A few important reminders:

👀 Check your child's backpack! Flyers went home with all students this week with all the details
💵 If sending payment with your child, please make sure they bring it ON picture day — we are unable to hold money beforehand
💻 Prefer to order online? Head to mydorian.com — orders can be placed before picture day AND up to 2 days after!
📞 Questions? Give the school office a call and they will be happy to help!

📅 Did not love the photos? No worries! Retake day is December 10th!

Through our PATS Holiday Helping program, families in the Madison District community can submit requests for assistance with gifts, food, or family essentials this holiday season. There is no judgment here — just a community that shows up for one another when it matters most! 💙

📋 Here is what you need to know:

✅ Applications are open NOW through November 18th

💌 You can also reach out to your school social worker directly for assistance accessing the application

This information is completely confidential and we encourage anyone who could use a little extra support this season to please reach out — that is exactly what this program is here for! 🙌

⏰ A few important schedule reminders:
🔹 Wednesday: Regular TCT early release at 1:00 PM
🔹 Thursday: Half day — school ends at 11:00 AM; 9:10 AM (Kinder Half-Day)
🔹 Friday: Half day — school ends at 11:00 AM; 9:10 AM (Kinder Half-Day)

Make sure those pickups are planned accordingly! 😄

🧠 Part 2 of accepting feedback and these kids are NAILING it! 😄

Responding to feedback with an "OK" is not about blind agreement — it is about showing respect, staying open to learning, and giving yourself the best chance to grow! 💙 And as you can see, our Simis students have got this one down! 🌟

The ability to receive feedback gracefully is one of the most powerful skills a person can develop and we love that our students are building that foundation right here at Simis!

🎉 We are incredibly proud to announce that five of our amazing Simis teachers have been awarded the APS Supply My Classroom Grant! 🌟
