Manzanita Elementary School, in the Washington Elementary School District, is a traditional neighborhood school serving more than 800 students in prekindergarten through sixth grade. At Manzanita School we are committed to:

• Engaging in activities that promote and facilitate safety and respect.

• An environment of acceptance of all students.

• Using appropriate teaching/learning strategies to foster the development and achievement of all students.

• Providing consistent and timely monitoring analysis and adjustment of instruction to optimize student achievement.

• Involving the community in activities that effect the welfare of students and the school.

• Providing quality enrichment and intervention programs for all students. Student behaviors are addressed in a manner that is direct and respectful of each child’s uniqueness. Students have an opportunity to move up or down their classroom chart based on their behaviors. This provides parents with a clear picture of their child’s day while taking into account that no child is perfect every day. We believe that this promotes ownership of the students behavior and an opportunity to “make it right” when behaviors are not appropriate.
