From the Southold Town Highway Department and Superintendent Dan Goodwin:
On Monday, November 2, 2026 the Southold Town Highway Department with the assistance of the Southold Town Police Department will be closing Sound Avenue to eastbound traffic at Aldrich Lane. The purpose of this closure is to resurface approximately 1600 ft of Sound Avenue east of Aldrich Lane.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured at Aldrich Lane to Franklinville Road and onto NYS Route 25 aka Main Road. Westbound traffic will remain open; however, delays in westbound travel and a lane shift will be in effect for part of the project. Flaggers will be present throughout the work area and detour route to direct traffic as needed.
Motorists are asked to avoid traveling on Sound Avenue and use alternate routes between 0830 am and 3 pm on Monday November 2, 2026.
