Get ready for Baseball!... Well at least the opening day of registration for our annual bus trips. We are excited to bring these games to you at family friendly prices. The Southold Town Police Department is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

-Seasonal Traffic Control Officer
Assist with directing traffic and supporting roadway safety.

-Fill in School Crossing Guard
Called upon when the assigned crossing guard is unavailable and are responsible for safely guiding school children, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic at designated school locations.

-Detention Attendants
Responsible for the care, control, and supervision of individuals temporarily detained at the Southold Town Police Department. This is an on-call, as-needed position.

Applications for these positions can be found on the Southold Town Website or picked up from the Southold Town Clerk’s office located at 53095 Main Road, Southold.

As temperatures start to warm up, it’s important to remember that our local waters are still dangerously cold. Each year, preventable tragedies occur because people underestimate how quickly cold water can impact the body.

Even when the air feels warm, the water can still be cold enough to cause serious harm. Cold water affects breathing, strength, and coordination much faster than many people realize.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing important safety tips to help keep you and your family safe on and around the water.
