🛑 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY — IT’S THE LAW! 🛑
When the red lights are flashing and the stop arm is out, STOP. A few seconds of your time could protect a child’s life.
As shown in the graphic, drivers need to know when they are required to stop and never attempt to pass a stopped school bus while children are loading or unloading.
🚔 Law enforcement will be watching for and enforcing school bus stop-arm violations. Drivers who choose to ignore a school bus stop arm can expect to be cited and face the applicable fines and penalties.
Our students deserve to get to school and back home safely every single day.

On 8-26-26 at 10:00AM, Chad W. Stanley (54), of Olney, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstructed Front Windshield & Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle following a traffic stop at the 500 block of N. West St.

On 8-27-26 at 5:29PM, Jerrod R. Ferguson (41), of Olney, was arrested for Domestic Battery, Interference with Reporting of Domestic Violence, Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting or Obstructing Peace Officer, Unlawful Restraint & a Richland County Warrant following an investigation at the 200 block of S. Van St.

On 8-28-26 at 5:27PM, Jayson P. Goble (56), of Oblong, was arrested for Driving While License Revoked & Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle following a traffic stop at the 500 block of S. West St.

On 8-28-26 at 5:53PM, Talene K. Waggoner (67), of Olney, was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop at the 700 block of W. Main St.

On 8-28-26 at 11:28PM, Ashley D. Humes (20), of Olney, was arrested for DUI, Aggravated Battery-Peace Officer & Illegal Transportation or Possession of Alcohol following a traffic stop at York & East St.

On 8-9-26 at 9:54PM, James D. Shadowens (59), of Olney, was arrested for DUI, Driving while License Revoked, Possession of Cannabis in Motor Vehicle & Improper Lane Usage following a traffic stop at Chestnut & Washington.

On 8-10-26 at 12:24PM, John W. Ward (35), of Lawrenceville, was arrested on a Jasper County Warrant for Failure to Appear following an investigation at the 700 block of E. Main St.

On 8-11-26 at 12:43PM, Adrian S. Nicholas (30), of Olney, was arrested on Richland County Warrant for Residential Burglary at the 500 block of S. Saratoga St.

On 8-12-26 at 3:17PM, Robert A. Slawson (34), of Willow Hill, was arrested on a Pulaski County Warrant for Child Molestration-2nd Degree-Child less than 12YOA & Sexual Abuse-1st Degree-Victim is Less than 14YOA following a traffic stop at Main & Hwy. 50.

On 8-14-26 at 4:42PM, Luis C. Diaz-Rojas (29), of Olney, was arrested for DUI, Operating Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration, Operation of Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended, Unlawful Possession of Title/Registration & a Effingham County Warrant for Failure to Appear following a traffic stop at the 700 block of S. Fair St.

On 8-17-26 at 1:11PM, Jeremiah L. Russell (40) & Veronica L. Russell, both of Geff, were arrested on a Wayne County Warrants for Violation of Animal Owner Duties at the 700 block of W. Main St.
