Hydrant Flushing starts today, April 13th, 2026, in the City of Mora.
WHY FLUSHING IS IMPORTANT
Flushing our system helps to clean out any build-up of mineral deposits and sediment inside the pipes. These deposits can occur when there is a reduced water demand. We also flush our hydrants to confirm they are operational and to check fire flows in our system.
HOW WE FLUSH OUR PIPELINES
Flushing involves simultaneously opening fire hydrants in a specific area to create increased water flows. When our crews are on your street or nearby, this process usually takes about one hour.
WHAT TO EXPECT
When crews are in your area, you may notice a drop in water pressure or discolored water. Discolored water may occur because the sediment in water mains gets stirred up when the fire hydrants are used and when the flow of water in mains changes. This is normal. If this happens, it is not harmful. Simply let your water run until it is clear.
System flushing will continue for the next two weeks until completed. If you have any questions regarding flushing, call the Utilities Office at 320-679-1451. Thank you.

Mora Municipal Water Utilities will be starting their spring hydrant flushing on April 13th, 2026. Staff will start in the center of town and work their way out into the system and will last for about 3 weeks.
Flushing is done to freshen up any slow-moving water areas in the water system and to exercise the hydrants for municipal and emergency uses.
If hydrant flushing is being completed in your residence area, the color of the water may change and may affect laundry service with possible staining on white fabrics. Please change your laundry schedule for that day. The "dirty color" is only aesthetic, and the water is still safe for daily use and consumption.
Again, please check your watercolor prior to washing clothes. If after running your water for a period of time and you see no changes, please call the utilities office at 679-1451.
