MMS student council members traveled to Troy High School today to attend the Northeast districts. As 2nd Vice President, the members organized and led the middle school session. Over 150 students played games and were a part of small discussion groups.

Congrats to Miss David!

Congratulations to our October Support Staff Employee of the Month: Addison David!

Addison is a Bulldog alum, and she was also a former student in our first "Teaching Professions" Hart Career Center Class! We're so excited she's now working with us as a Bulldog staff member!

A nominating colleague shared, "Addison is new to MMS this year and is completely rocking it! She steps in and helps wherever she is needed. She remains calm, yet consistent with each student and always pushes them to do their best. She is an asset to MMS!"

Our Employees of the Month receive a $100 CD from Show Me Credit Union, a surprise visit from Central Office, and some Bulldog swag!

Congrats to Coach Vitale!

Congrats to Coach Vitale!

Mexico Middle School Athletic Director Jake Vitale has been selected by his peers as this year’s Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) Middle School Athletic Director of the Year.

Now in his fifth year as MMS athletic director, Vitale supports coaches and student-athletes across the school’s sports programs. A former Bulldog athlete himself, he enjoys helping students work toward their competitive goals while representing the Mexico community with pride.

Brandon Schafer, MHS Activities Director, shared, “Coach Vitale provides stability for our coaches and student-athletes and continues to grow our programs at MMS. His passion for growth and success, both athletically and academically, is evident in all of our programs at MMS. Mexico atheletics is incredibly lucky to have Coach Vitale and his expertise in his role as MMS Athletic Director!”

Vitale’s work with Mexico Schools also included coaching MHS boys wrestling and golf. Before joining the district, he worked in middle school behavior intervention and taught English language arts at North Callaway, where he also served as head wrestling coach and assistant football coach.

His enthusiasm for nearly every sport makes the athletic director role especially rewarding. He values the opportunity to be involved in all the sports MMS offers and to watch students grow through hard work and competition.

Outside school, Vitale enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. He credits his wife, Claire, for supporting the busy schedule that comes with his role. Their son, Jasper, already shares the family’s school spirit, calling out “GO BULLDOGS!” whenever he sees the school logo.

Congratulations to Coach Vitale on this recognition and his continued commitment to our Bulldogs!

Did you know that Mexico Middle School was once Mexico Junior High School?

Did you know that in March of 1975, when students first moved into our current building, they got to vote on what they wanted their mascot to be?

The students originally chose to be the Mexico Junior High School Matadors. Sometime during the early 90's, it was decided to change the mascot to the Bulldogs like the high school, and sometime in the early 00's we became Mexico Middle School.

Today, Robnett Graphic and Tint came over and installed our new wall decal to add a little history to our front hallway. Pictured are our most widely used mascots through the past 50 years.

Congratulations to MMS 8th grade ELA teacher Makenzie Mudd, who received a $500 classroom grant from the Audrain County Retired Teachers!

Ms. Mudd will use the funds to purchase a class set of “The Odyssey” for an upcoming book study. Students will explore the classic story through a modern lens while making connections to its history and themes.

Thank you to the Audrain County Retired Teachers for continuing to support education!
