Christmas Workshop is Saturday, Nov. 7 from 10am -1pm. There's seven designs to pick from... We provide the materials... YOU supply the creativity! This is NOT instructor led, but guided. There is a limited quantity and limited seating, so click on the link to reserve a seat and the painting of your choice. If you don't want to attend the class, there will be a limited number of paint kits available for order for take-home.

Exciting improvements are on the way at Project Play!

Project Play will close Thursday morning, October 29, and will remain closed for the entire duration of the turf installation project.

Construction is expected to take approximately six weeks, weather permitting. The playground will be fenced off and No Trespassing signs will be posted. No access to the playground will be permitted until the project is complete and the playground officially reopens.

We look forward to completing this project and reopening Project Play for our community to enjoy!

This amazingly well-kept Dietz Vesta #6 Lo-Top style Railroad Lantern, manufactured by the R. E. Dietz Company in Syracuse, New York in April 1945, was recently donated to the Museum by Mr. Aubrey Deverell. The lantern was used by the New York Central System, and most likely was passed along railroad lines until it reached Tipton County. The lantern was lit using kerosene and its globe was made by Corning Glass Works and features their proprietary "Corning Non-Expanding" safety glass... the precursor for the development of Pyrex dishes. While carefully cleaning the octogenarian item, Tipton County Museum Director Katherine Markley found not only eight-decades old dirt but also ... stink bugs! Just shows that even after 81 years there's no getting away from them!
