A message from the Board of Directors (text version):
To our membership,
First, thank you for your continued support of the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center and our mission to to engage, organize and mobilize communities to realize social justice through nonviolent action. We are a people-powered organization, and our work would not be possible without your support.
We wanted you to be informed of some changes at the Center. It is with sadness and deep gratitude that the Board of Directors announces the departure of Bradley Watkins as our Executive Director. Mr. Watkins served the Center for 11 years in both programmatic and executive capacities. We wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts and sacrifices to serve Memphis.
It is no secret we’ve had our share of fundraising challenges. At this point, we are not employing any full-time staff members. HOPE and MBRU are operating normally, and our primary focus at this time is imagining the future of this organization in order to best serve our mission.
We have completed a move to First Congregational Church, and are excited to be in a building with such rich history and importance to our community. It is an exciting time to be at First Congo, as they prepare to undergo building renovations.
People power has always been central to the success of this organization. Your support has made many successes possible. Our dedication to a movement led by those most affected by injustice has not changed.
We thank you for your continued support of our work. Stay tuned for more information, which will be released as plans are put into motion.
