This week we honor the memory of those that have given the ultimate sacrifice. We celebrate the brave men and women that put on the uniform everyday to protect those that cannot protect themselves.

Feel free to give our officers a wave as you see them about town, let them know you appreciate them too.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there, especially those that are wearing the headset today and away from their families.

This morning, Officer Philbrick, Officer Frazier, and Officer Deskis graduated from the New Britain Police Department Regional Satellite Basic Recruit Academy!

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, determination, and commitment to public service. These officers now begin the next step in their law enforcement journey—a four-month field training program—where they’ll continue preparing to serve and protect our community with honor.

Please join us in congratulating them and wishing them continued success.

Left to Right: Lieutenant Reinert, Officer Philbrick, Officer Frazier, Officer Deskis, Chief Darby.

The Emergency Communications Center at Manchester PD coordinates all emergency efforts between the Manchester Police Department, Manchester Fire Department, and the Ambulance Service of Manchester.
The 14 men and women of the division handle over 120,000 calls for service every year. They are the first point of contact for the public in an emergency. Dispatchers extract all pertinent information from the callers, triage the calls and send the necessary responders.
Dispatching is often a thankless profession. We are often heard and not seen. We hear things that we will never forget. We get little to no closure on the outcome of a call because we are immediately on to the next emergency. We work nights, weekends, and holidays, missing family events and gatherings.
So why do we do it? For some it is a sense of civic duty, helping your fellow man. For others, it is for the fast-paced environment, moving quickly from call to call, working as a team. No two shifts are ever the same.
We are 911.
