It is with deep regret that Chief DeLisa and the Oceanic Engine & Truck Company announce the passing of Ex-Chief Irven Miller Jr. of the Oceanic Engine and Truck earlier this afternoon after a long and hard fought health battle.

Chief Miller joined the Oceanics in 1971 following in a family tradition. He served as Captain in 1981, and distinguished himself as Department Chief in 1994. He continued to serve on the advisory board, the relief association and on many company and department committees.

His service to our department over the last 51 years can be best described as outstanding. He was a great Chief and a personal friend to many of us in the department. He will be terribly missed.

Funeral arrangements are pending and we will pass along the information as soon as it is available.

Please keep Chief Miller and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Today when going through some old items ex-Captain Ed Horn came across some old Monmouth County Firemen’s Association books from the 1930’s. The 1930 book had a brief history of the company, a picture of founding member William R.Nixon along with some other Long Branch articles

It is with deep sadness and regret that the Branchport Hose Company #3 has to report the passing of Ex-Chief Michael S. Calabria Jr.. Mike was Department Chief in 2000 and continued to be an active and Instrumental Company & Department member right up to the end. Most recently as a member of the Department Relief Assoc. and on the Fund Drive Committee. His absence and loss to the department will be felt deeply. Always smiling and cracking a joke, its going to be hard to think of the Department without him. He leaves behind him his loving wife Ingrid .,two daughters and grand-children. The photo below was just taken this past Sat . when he was out helping the W.L.B Historical Society placing wreaths on veterans graves for Wreaths Across America... The arrangements are as follows: Damiano's Funeral Home Monday Dec. 27 between 5-8 pm Fireman's Service will be at 7:30 pm. The Funeral mass will be at Holy Trinity Church Tues. 28th at 10:30 am . Please keep Mikes family in your prayers during this Holiday. Thank You.
