On May 25, 2026, Officers from the Long Beach Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Long Beach Boulevard in the area of 113th Street.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 22-year-old Reed Sweeney of Tabernacle for driving while intoxicated. Sweeney was processed and released pending a future court date.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Sergeant Petrone, Patrolman Fife, Patrolman Seidenfaden and Patrolman Voorhees for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

All charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

On May 27, 2026, Officers from the Long Beach Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 70th Street and Long Beach Boulevard.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 40-year-old Ferdinand Pagan of Philadelphia for outstanding warrants. Pagan was processed and released into the custody of Monroe Township.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Patrolman Farrell, Patrolman Hoffman, and Officer Witko-Mooney for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

On May 28, 2026, Officers from the Long Beach Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Long Beach Boulevard in the area of Harding Avenue.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 61-year-old Colleen Reichert of Bordentown for driving while intoxicated. Reichert was processed and released pending a future court date.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Sergeant Reynolds, Patrolman Rubel, Patrolman Lutz for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 23-year-old Andre Edwards of Manahawkin for driving while intoxicated. Edwards was processed and released pending a future court date.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 59-year-old Margaret Malatesta of Gilbert, Arizona for driving while intoxicated. Malatesta was processed and released pending a future court date.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Patrolman Gouveia, Patrolman Burkhard, Patrolman Stambaugh, Patrolman Cipriani and Officer Marcario for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

For Immediate Release:

On May 30, 2026, Officers from the Long Beach Township Police Department observed a vehicle driving erratic on Ocean Boulevard in the area of 68th Street. The driver parked the vehicle, exited and began urinating in public. When officers attempted to stop the individual, he fled on foot.

The Long Beach Township drone was deployed in addition to both K-9 Units, Zero and Rogue. The male, 24-year-old Jason Sari of Manahawkin, was located shortly after and placed in custody for driving while intoxicated and obstruction. Sari was processed and released pending a future court date.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Patrolman Cipriani, Patrolman Burkhard, K-9 Zero, Patrolman Stambaugh, K-9 Rogue, Sergeant Pollina and Communications Officer Foley for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

On May 31, 2026, Officers from the Long Beach Township Police Department responded to the area of 118th Street for graffiti. The image was painted with blue spray paint and was the same graffiti located on properties in Beach Haven and in the area of 82nd Street.

On June 1, 2026, officers placed 37-year-old Chase Bernetich of Olney, Maryland in custody for criminal mischief. He was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail where he was lodged.

The camp will be held August 12–14 and is open to teens ages 13–15. Participants will learn valuable bike and water safety skills while enjoying hands-on activities, demonstrations, and interactive experiences with Long Beach Township Police Officers.

On Friday May 15, 2026, Officers from the Long Beach Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on Long Beach Boulevard in the area of Harvey Cedars.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 59-year-old Joseph Salentino of Barnegat Light for an outstanding warrant. Salentino was processed and released pending a future court date.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Patrolman Brachelli, Patrolman Bazerque, and Patrolman Cipriani for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 47-year-old Jose Balderasherrer of South Toms River for possession of prescription narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. Balderasherrer was processed and released pending a future court date.

The Long Beach Township Police Department commends the professional actions of Patrolman Schworn, Patrolman Cipriani, and Patrolman Bazerque for their efforts that led to this apprehension.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 32-year-old Rocco Murro of Manahawkin for possession of prescription narcotics. Murro was processed and released pending a future court date.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, 64-year-old Timothy Downing Jr. of Dumont for an outstanding warrant. Downing was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail where he was lodged.

Welcome K-9 Zero to the Long Beach Township Police Department!
We are proud to welcome the newest member of the Long Beach Township Police Department, K-9 Zero!

Zero is a German Shepherd born in July 2024 in the country of Hungary. After months of intensive training, Zero and his handler, Patrolman Jessica Burkhard, graduated today, May 15, 2026, from the New Jersey State Police Canine Training Academy.

Zero is certified in:

• Criminal Apprehension
• Building Searches
• Article/Evidence Searches
• Human Tracking
• Agility
• Obedience

We would like to thank Long Beach Township Mayor Joe Mancini, Commissioner Joseph Lattanzi, and Commissioner Alex Meehan for their continued support to the Long Beach Township Police Department. Thank you to the New Jersey State Police for their assistance throughout this process.

The Long Beach Township Police Department is pleased to announce that the 3rd Annual LBI Jr. Police Academy registration is now open!

Please fill out an application online at https://www.lbtpd.org/community-policing/junior-police-academy/

Be sure to submit
1. Letter of recommendation from a teacher or local 1st responder
2. Medical certification
3. Essay

The Academy will be held August 17-21 from 8am to 3pm daily. Transportation will not be provided and students will need to be dropped off and picked up from various LBI locations. Academy T-Shirts and daily lunch will be provided.

Registration is free but is limited to 25 students ( Submitting the initial application secures your spot pending additional documents)

On Friday, May 8, Long Beach Township Police Officers Sayer Zimmerman and Justin Marcario graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy Basic Police Recruit Class 124. Officer Zimmerman received the High Overall Award, and the James J. Tracey Leadership Award. We congratulate both officers as well as all the officers graduating.
