📱 Less Screen Time. More Meaningful Connections.

Pennsylvania's new bell-to-bell cell phone law is sparking important conversations about technology, learning, and student mental wellness.

As schools prepare for this change, we're looking beyond phone restrictions to explore how technology can support learning while making room for meaningful human connections.

What does a healthy balance between technology and connection look like for young people?

đź’» Connecting Technology, Persistence, and Youth Mental Wellness!

Meet Eman Qundes, our Communications Data Intern at Touchstone Foundation!

A senior Computer Science student at Millersville University, Eman's journey is a reminder that growth often comes from embracing challenges, asking for support, and discovering new opportunities along the way.

After first connecting with Touchstone Foundation as an IT volunteer, Eman is now putting her technical skills to work as part of our team, helping advance our mission of elevating youth mental wellness throughout Lancaster County.

đź’š Her story reminds us that every young person deserves the encouragement, resources, and opportunities to discover their potential.

Today, our Touchstone Foundation team traded our desks and daily to-do lists for fresh air, peaceful surroundings, and a little time to reconnect with nature at Lancaster County Park!

With guidance from Shannon Zimmerman, we experienced the mindful practice of forest bathing—slowing down, engaging our senses, and simply being present in the moment.

It was a meaningful reminder that caring for our own mental wellness is just as important as the work we do to support others.

As we encourage young people to explore healthy ways to manage stress, build connections, and practice self-care, we're reminded that these lessons are important at every age—including for our hardworking team!

đź’š We're grateful to Shannon for creating such a welcoming experience and giving us the opportunity to pause, reflect, and recharge together.

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to slow down?

We encourage you to step outside, take a deep breath, and notice the beauty around you. You might be surprised by what a few intentional moments in nature can offer.

And to our Rise Above students—perhaps you'll have the chance to experience forest bathing with us someday, too!

Here's your reminder: Self-care isn't just something we talk about. It's something we can practice together. 🌳

Mental Health Monday | Young Voices. Real Conversations. Meaningful Change! đź’š

What does it look like when young people have a voice in the decisions that shape their futures?

Across Pennsylvania, youth advocacy efforts are encouraging young people to become active participants in conversations about the issues that affect their lives.

Your voice matters, and advocacy can start right where you are!

đź’¬ Speak Up: Share your perspective on the challenges young people face and the support they need to thrive.

🤝 Get Connected: Explore youth advocacy opportunities and connect with others who are passionate about creating positive change.

📣 Take Action: Participate in community conversations, learn about policies affecting young people, and discover ways to make your voice heard.

🌱 Support Others: Help create spaces where your peers feel comfortable sharing their experiences and advocating for their mental wellness.

At Touchstone Foundation, we believe every young person deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered. Through our Rise Above program, we're helping students develop self-advocacy skills, build meaningful connections, and recognize the power of their voices.

Mental Health Monday: Want to be a better ally? Start by listening.

Being an ally means helping others feel seen, heard, respected, and supported.

Can we explore how empathy, connection, and advocacy can help build stronger, more inclusive communities?

Here are 4 ways to practice allyship:

đź’¬ Listen to understand. Make space for experiences different from your own.

🤝 Respect differences. You don't have to share someone's experience to respect it.

đź’š Speak up with kindness. Challenge hurtful comments and stand beside someone who needs support.

🌱 Keep learning. Ask questions, reflect on your assumptions, and stay open to growth.

Being an ally isn't about having all the answers. It's about showing up, learning, and making room for others to belong.

What's one way you can help someone feel included this week?
