Advoz: Mediation & Restorative Practices

ADVOZ brings 60 years of experience in face-to-face mediation and restorative justice for families

We hope you'll join us for Around The Table 2026, our annual fundraiser dinner and auction! Advoz seeks to transform conflict and build community with face-to-face dialogue programs in and beyond Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2017, Advoz was formed from the merger of two long-serving com

munity organizations, Conflict Resolution Services (Lancaster Mediation since 1980) and the Center for Community Peacemaking (LAVORP since 1995). The two organization shared some of the same founders and used similar proven face-to-face mediation methods to provide meaningful, cost-effective alternatives to the traditional justice system. Both organizations have also developed pro-active training programs to prevent escalated conflict, violence and crime, a major reason for the merger and now a focus of their combined work. MEDIATION provides a safe, non-judgmental way of resolving differences and finding solutions to challenging disputes while serving the relationship. Since 1980, mediation has been available for neighbors, family, real estate, landlords/tenants and others to reach solutions together more quickly and inexpensively than resorting to the civil court system. RESTORATIVE JUSTICE involves people harmed by crime and violence, including victims, offenders and community members in a dialogue process that addresses the harm and how it could be made right. Since 1995, the organization has helped victims and especially juvenile offenders make things right through a dialogue process used successfully here and around the world. TRAINING in mediation, restorative practices and other facilitation techniques equips our community to be their own peacemakers. Whether its personal communication, interpersonal mediation or group facilitation, Advoz's training team draws from a toolkit of both established and innovative approaches to conflict, division and harm.

Trust doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s built—through listening, grounding in values, and storytelling.

We’re grateful for partners who are willing to do this work.
And to the Lancaster Chamber for lifting up this message in Gladwell’s keynote last week.

If you’ve been inspired to strengthen how you build trust, consider volunteering or training with Advoz! Restorative practices offer a toolbox for human-centered connection.

Advoz is seeking referrals for custody and co-parenting mediation.

Families navigating separation face intense emotion, uncertainty, and major change. Children often carry a heavy burden, feeling caught in the middle or responsible for what’s happening around them.

Mediation can make a meaningful difference. It helps parents find clarity, build workable agreements, and prioritize their children’s well-being while laying the groundwork for constructive communication moving forward.

Do you know someone who may benefit? Please consider referring them or keep us in mind when you encounter families in need of guidance. Learn more and submit a referral at advoz.org/mediation.

Next week I get to spend multiple days with some amazing fellow colleagues, community members and professionals in the Advoz Circle Process training. I'm always struck by how powerful and practical participants experience this training, hearing months later how they immediately use the process in their work, school, family and community. As it turns out, we have a few seats left, but the deadline is tomorrow. Are you interested? (~ Chris Fitz) https://advoz.charityproud.org/EventRegistration/Index/23635

This year, our peer mediators launched a “Hall of Mediators” award, along with additional recognitions, to celebrate their growth as skilled practitioners. Each May, the Restorative School Practitioner presents these awards to honor the meaningful ways students support their peers in engaging conflict and creating opportunities for transformation. Another example of student leadership in practice!
