September is National Recovery Month, a time to raise awareness, celebrate those in recovery, and remind our community that recovery is possible.

To kick off National Recovery Month, the Town of Huntington hosted a flag-raising ceremony at Town Hall yesterday. The Village of Northport also came together for a flag-raising ceremony and candlelight vigil at Northport Village Park.

These events serve as an important reminder that recovery touches individuals, families, and communities throughout Long Island. By raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting those on their journey, we can continue building a community where no one has to face recovery alone.

Let’s stand together in support of recovery. 💜

Congratulations to the Northport Historical Society and Museum on its long-awaited grand reopening yesterday. The museum has completed its “Access for All” entrance ramp and ADA-compliant restroom, ensuring that everyone can enjoy Northport’s cherished history!

We all know that during an emergency, every second counts. That’s why I was happy to deliver an AED machine, Narcan kit, and Stop the Bleed kit to Huntington Baptist Church with Danny Keegan from Suffolk County Fire Rescue & Emergency Services (FRES). 🚑

This effort is part of a countywide initiative to enhance emergency preparedness and help keep our houses of worship safe. ⛪️

Last night, I had the pleasure of being at Northport Village Park to hear JD Leonard perform “Decades of Country” as part of the Northport Chamber of Commerce’s Summerfest Concert Series. It was great seeing so many familiar faces in the crowd!

I’m proud to have helped provide funding to the Northport Chamber for events like this through Suffolk County’s Omnibus Grant Program, supporting our community, arts, music, and historical organizations.

Thank you to the Northport Chamber of Commerce for putting together another great summer evening!

Yesterday, the Town of Huntington hosted an important press conference focused on traffic safety and protecting public road crews, following a number of recent local accidents.

When approaching road work, please slow down, stay alert, put your phone away, and obey all traffic laws. Let’s do our part to keep our road crews,and everyone on the road,safe. 🚧 🚘

And as always, never drink and drive or drive under the influence.

Earlier today, Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, Congressman Nick LaLota, and other officials announced major construction upgrades at Gabreski Airport, highlighted by the $20.3 million construction of a new federal contract tower. The new tower will replace the existing air traffic control tower, which dates back to the 1940s and no longer meets FAA safety and height standards. Thank you Congressman LaLota for securing funding for this important infrastructure upgrade.
