As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close tomorrow, we’re grateful for the opportunity to celebrate our community through meaningful action!

We were proud to partner with Light of Salvation Church to host a free Community Health Fair, connecting residents with valuable health resources, free food donations, medical screenings, and providing over 20 free vaccinations.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible and for working together to make healthcare more accessible to our community!

Last night, I was proud to partner with Stacy Pellettieri of Long Island Counseling Services for our Childhood Reset Summit, bringing together experts, parents, educators, and community leaders to discuss how technology, AI, and social media are shaping childhood.

Thank you to our incredible panelists and everyone who joined us for this important conversation.

This is only the beginning. We must continue working together to turn these discussions into meaningful action and better protect our children in a rapidly changing digital world.

A man was shot by a federal immigration agent in New York City. His five-year-old child was in the car.
We cannot become desensitized to violence. We cannot allow incidents like this to become just another headline that we scroll past and forget.
There must be a full, transparent and independent investigation into what happened. The public deserves answers, and the facts must matter.
Regardless of immigration status or any other status, every human life has value. Accountability, due process and respect for human dignity must never be optional.
We must insist on answers, uphold our humanity and refuse to accept violence as something we simply get used to.

AI is changing the world faster than we can keep up, and our children are already growing up in it. We need to be asking the hard questions now, not after the technology has outpaced our ability to respond.

Tonight, we’re bringing together experts in cybersecurity, mental health, education, law enforcement, and public policy to discuss the challenges, the risks, and what we can do to better protect our children.

AI should be a tool that empowers our children, not a weapon that puts them at risk. Long Island has an opportunity to help lead this conversation, and we want you to be part of it.

Today, a nine-year-old from East Northport came to my office to spend some time with me.

She recently ran for student government and had been involved in student government the year before. We talked about wins, losses, and what it means to take care of people and care about your community.

She came to talk with me, but when she left, I was the one who felt inspired.

Natalie wants to be a judge when she grows up so she can make the world a fairer place. She told me about wrapping presents for children and organizing food drives for veterans.

These are the kinds of amazing young people who attend our schools and are making Long Island’s future brighter every day.

Thank you, Natalie, for being an incredible, big-hearted young leader and for reminding me why our community’s future is so full of promise.

Three years ago today, families woke up to what should have been an ordinary Saturday morning.
Instead, October 7, 2023 became a day of unimaginable horror.
More than 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel. Parents, children, grandparents and young people were murdered in their homes, in their communities and at a music festival. 251 people were taken hostage.
Today, we remember those whose lives were taken. We hold close the survivors, the families who lost loved ones, and all those who continue to carry the trauma of that day.
Here at home, we also stand with our Jewish neighbors who have spent the last three years grieving while confronting a painful rise in antisemitism and fear. No one should feel unsafe because of their faith or identity.
May the memories of those we lost carry on. May their families find strength and healing. And may we continue working toward a future where every family can live in safety, dignity and peace.
