On behalf of everyone at the CBPOA, we extend our deepest condolences.

The Taft Police Department is deeply saddened to confirm the death of Officer Daniel Trujillo. Officer Trujillo was found deceased last Friday in his Houston apartment.

Officer Trujillo proudly served with the Taft Police Department for three years. During his time with our department, he served our community with dedication and commitment, and his loss is deeply felt by those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Our thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences are with Officer Trujillo’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched during this incredibly difficult time.

The Houston Police Department is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. We will continue to support that process and our own members as needed. Any questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the Houston Police Department.

We ask that the privacy of Officer Trujillo’s family be respected as they grieve. Additional information will be shared as appropriate and as it becomes available.

We are grateful for Officer Trujillo’s three years of service to the Taft community. His dedication, service, and the memories shared with his fellow officers will not be forgotten.

Rest easy, Officer Trujillo. We’ll take it from here. 🖤💙🖤

Police officers on each campus help keep our schools safe while building positive relationships with students. Simple moments like visiting with students during lunch leave a major impact on students.

Beeville ISD thanks our officers and security staff for their dedication to protecting our students and staff and making a difference each and every day!

The fallen deputy has been identified in news reports as Adam Sherifi, a husband and father of three whose youngest child was reportedly born just last month.

Deputy Sherifi was killed while assisting Canton police officers in serving felony arrest warrants at a residence south of Canton. During the encounter, authorities say the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding Sherifi and injuring a Canton police officer.

The suspect was later found dead inside the residence.

Our hearts are with Deputy Sherifi’s wife, children, fellow officers, and the entire Van Zandt County community.

Please keep this Texas family in your thoughts and prayers, along with the wounded Canton police officer as he recovers.

Rest in peace, Deputy Adam Sherifi. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.
