Our first 4th Friday of many to come.

Our table served as an initiative to raise awareness and educate the community about visual impairment and how to support those living with it, especially here in our county.

It was also a great opportunity to connect with other vendors and explore potential new partnerships.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by. You’ll definitely be seeing more of us, so stay tuned.

At the beginning of the month, we received a very special invitation from the Triangle Blind Golf Association to be part of the very first season of accessible golf in the Triangle area. It was truly an honor for the VRC to be part of this meaningful moment and witness the beginning of such an inclusive initiative.

The Triangle Blind Golf Association hosted its inaugural spring kickoff yesterday, May 11. This new nonprofit’s mission is to create opportunities for blind and visually impaired participants to experience golf with guided support, and encouragement.

We enjoyed making new friends, sharing hot dogs, and seeing such incredible community support and city presence throughout the event. We even had the opportunity to introduce the VRC to Leonardo Williams, Durham’s Mayor, who showed up in support of the cause, reminding us how important community leadership is in building accessible spaces for everyone.

We definitely look forward to returning to Hillandale Golf Course !

Thank you to James Davis () for inspiring and creating spaces like this where everyone is welcome.

April is National Volunteer Month!

We didn’t want the month to end without honoring those who give their time and energy to support our mission and keep our organization moving forward.

Thank you to the volunteers who were able to join us today, and to those who couldn’t make it but are always there when we need them.💚👁️

Today, we celebrate your effort and generosity. We couldn’t be more grateful for you.

We also had fun recognizing today’s group with a few special awards:

* Always on Time Award: Cynthia Hayes, for your reliability and dedication.
* Comedy Gold Award: Mary Kennedy, for keeping us laughing and smiling.
* Best Dressed Award: Genetta, who always leaves us speechless with her style.
* Above and Beyond Award: Debra Jordan Dixon, who is always just one call away.
* Team Player Award: Clyde Dixon, Debra’s partner, always ready to step in and help.
* Quiet Hero Award: John Bastolas, a respected and beloved veteran who continues to serve through the VRC with a generous heart.
* The full of energy Award: Myrtle Simmons, she’s funny, and bright like a sunshine!
* Heart of Gold Award: Ernestine, whose hugs have lifted us more times than she knows.

We wish all our volunteers could have been here, but please know: we cherish you deeply!!

We want to conclude this post sharing the reflection of the day:
May every act of kindness you give return to you in unexpected blessings. May your generosity be met with joy, your service with purpose, and your hearts with peace. Thank you for being a light to others.
