The Fairborn Police Department is proud to offer R**e Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Training, a four-session program designed to provide women with practical tools for personal safety and self-defense.

R.A.D. focuses on situational awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and strategies for recognizing and avoiding potentially dangerous situations. Participants are introduced to practical, hands-on self-defense techniques in a safe and supportive training environment. The course will be led by Officer Rachel Taubert and Detective Zink, who will guide participants through the program in a welcoming, encouraging, and supportive setting.

The program is open to women 18 years of age and older and is designed for participants of all experience and comfort levels, and is completely free! Participants remain fully in control of their level of involvement and are encouraged to learn at their own pace. Protective equipment is provided, and safety remains a priority throughout the course.

Whether you're looking to become more aware of your surroundings, build confidence, or learn practical skills you can carry with you every day, R.A.D. provides an opportunity to train in a supportive environment alongside experienced instructors. If you are interested in this free program, please reach out to Detective Zink at [email protected] to register!

We are proud to recognize Recruit Chloie Abrams, who graduated from the Greene County Career Center Police Academy this past Monday. Chloie was selected as the Class Leader for her academy class and had the honor of speaking during the graduation ceremony. We are extremely proud of the way she represented the Fairborn Police Department throughout the academy, and she is now one step closer to becoming a sworn Fairborn Police Officer.

Congratulations, Chloie!

On Sunday September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:05 a.m., Fairborn Police Officers responded to the sound of gunshots on Morris Dr. Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects suffering from gunshot wounds and obtained information that a third male subject fled on foot. All three subjects were determined to be from Dayton, OH. One subject was later pronounced deceased from the sustained injuries, and a second subject is presently in stable condition at a local hospital.

Fairborn Detectives identified Cato Mayberry as the subject who fled from the scene, and quickly worked to determine his location with assistance from Riverside Police Department, Trotwood Police Department, Huber Heights Fire Division and the Dayton Police Department. Mayberry was eventually discovered in the Dayton area where he turned himself in to authorities.

Fairborn Detectives have obtained a probable cause warrant for Mayberry's arrest. The Fairborn Detective Section is continuing to investigate this incident, and the case is expected to be presented to the Greene County Grand Jury.

The Fairborn Police Department thanks the public and our assisting agencies for their cooperation and assistance throughout this investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Fairborn Police Department at (937) 754-3000 or the Tip Line at (937) 754-3018.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
