Join the Fairborn Parks & Recreation Advisory Board on Tuesday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m. as they clean up the historic Mercer-Smith House. Volunteers will help w**d and clean up the garden beds surrounding the historic home. Bring your gardening gloves and come lend a hand!

Built around 1799, the Mercer-Smith House is one of Fairborn’s oldest surviving structures and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Caring for the property helps preserve an important piece of our community’s history for generations to come. We'll see you on September 22!

As site-readiness work begins at the former Skyway Plaza property, the sidewalk along Kauffman Avenue between Parkwood Drive and Garland Avenue will be closed during construction. The closure is needed to maintain a safe work area for pedestrians and construction crews.

To get around the closure, pedestrians can cross Kauffman Avenue at Garland Avenue and take the Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Bikeway to Ohio Street.

Please plan accordingly and use caution when traveling through the area. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this redevelopment project moves forward.

Thank you to the more than 100 community members who joined us this morning for Fairborn’s 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. This special event organized by the Fairborn Police Department and Fairborn Fire Department, brings our community together each year to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001 and beyond.

This year's ceremony was especially meaningful because it featured music by the Fairborn Civic Band honoring those we lost and the heroes who answered the call to serve.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our elected officials, City staff, veterans, first responders, Fairborn 9/11 committee members, FHS AF JROTC Oh-031, Fairborn Cub Scout Pack 182, Fairborn City Schools students, Calamityville, Wright State University Department of Public Safety, American Legion Dignam Whitmore Post 526, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, everyone who helped make this morning’s ceremony possible. 25 years later, Fairborn continues to stand together to honor the lives and legacy of September 11.
