MAILBOX IMPROVEMENT WEEK.

It’s time to give your mailbox a little attention.
That’s the message from the U.S. Postal Service in its annual Mailbox Improvement Week.
USPS designates the third full week of May as Mailbox Improvement Week to encourage customers on to examine and, where necessary, improve the appearance of their mailboxes.
“Neat attractive mailboxes make a significant contribution to the appearance of the countryside and streets in suburban areas,” USPS said in a statement. Overall, people should only use fully operational mailboxes that are approved by the Postmaster General. They should be designed to protect the mail from the weather, conveniently located and large enough to support mail and package volumes.

Typical improvements can include replacing loose hinges on a mailbox door, repainting a rusted mailbox or one that has started to peel, remounting a loosened mailbox post or replacing or adding house numbers.
You might also consider upgrading your mailbox to one of the newer, larger-capacity options. These new types of mailboxes are meant to be package-friendly, capable of holding several boxes, as well as regular letters, cards and magazines. The high-capacity mailboxes fit on most standard posts.

Hey.
Do us a favor and get the word out. The big blue collection box at the post office out front by the sidewalk. We’re needing y’all to refrain from putting packages in there.
It’s not meant to handle anything but very small packages.
The metal teeth on the inside as well and the height of the tube make it easy for packages to get stuck.
Please take packages inside and drop them in the lobby drop please……. Thank You ❤️

This is the inside of the box, everything has to pass through those teeth like things

I’m finding quite a bit of outgoing mail that’s been addressed incorrectly. Please take a moment to read about where to print the return address on a letter or package.

Return addresses are supposed to be PRINTED in the upper left hand corner of the mail piece. We’ve been seeing a lot of cards/invitations with the return address on the back of the envelope. This is a NO NO. If your printer suggests this option tell them NO.

ATTENTION !
The US Postal Service does NOT send text messages. There is a large scam currently in place.
If you get a text or email
From USPS ITS A SCAM.
Don’t open the link. They say you have a package that has $1.25 postage due. We’ve had about 12 people come into the office each day, and several more have called the office.

If your receiving unwanted mail from organizations or people you don’t want, please don’t write on the envelope and drop it in the outgoing mail. If you do that, chances are the mail piece will end up back in your mailbox. Humans don’t sort through the letters that are deposited in collection boxes.

Bring those letters to your local post office and let someone educate you on the proper way to rid yourself of them.

Here is a link from the Federal Trade Commision that may help with that issue.

There’s a proposed rate increase. If approved by the Postal regulatory commission, the price of a first class stamp will increase by three cents. From .55 to.58 cents.
Any FOREVER stamps you have in your possession will automatically be worth the higher rate.

Looking at the graph you can see that compared to the rest of the world we are the LEAST EXPENSIVE country in the world.
