On June 11, Sharon Horner introduced Lt. Patrick Leake and Sgt. Chuck Barrineau with the Dyersburg Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
They gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what detective work really involves—from DNA swabs and lab testing to the everyday tools used to piece cases together (yes, even tape measures matter!).
We also learned it typically takes 5–7 years of field experience before becoming a detective. In 2025, the division handled 369 cases.
A big thank you for a great program and for the work they do in our community every day.

🚔 Dyersburg/Dyer County Leadership – Law Enforcement Day 🚔

The Dyersburg Police Department was honored to host the Dyersburg/Dyer County Leadership Class for Law Enforcement Day at the Lannom Center.

Throughout the day, participants received an inside look at the many responsibilities of the Dyersburg Police Department, including patrol services, criminal investigations, narcotics and street crimes enforcement, training, accreditation, and special operations.

The class also participated in several interactive breakout sessions, including:
🔹 Special Operations Response Team (SORT) equipment and demonstrations
🔹 Fi****ms Training Simulator (FATS)
🔹 A mock crime scene investigation conducted by our Criminal Investigations Division

The photos highlight some of the day's activities, including our group photo and hands-on learning experiences. We appreciate the members of the Leadership Class taking the time to learn more about law enforcement and the services we provide to our community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Law Enforcement Day a success!
