Wayne County Commission Chair Alisha Bell joined Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, the WSU Center for Behavioral Health and Justice, judges, community members and colleagues for a celebration of the juvenile justice reforms that have been collectively accomplished together in Wayne County.

Chair Bell is honored to serve on the statewide Juvenile Justice Reform Task Force under Lt. Governor Gilchrist leadership. From eliminating fines and fees for juvenile offenders, to ensuring that young people get adequate legal representation — Wayne County is moving ahead toward a brighter and better future for our youth!

Did you know that Hines Drive in Hines Park is closed every Saturday from May through September 26, 2026 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for residents of all ages to run, walk or cycle safely for the Saturday in the Park Program?

Get out and enjoy some fresh air and exercise throughout the six miles of Hines Drive that is closed to traffic from Ann Arbor Trail to Outer Drive for the public. Please be advised that no motor vehicles are permitted on Hines Drive during this time and the parkway is patrolled by the Wayne County Sheriff and Dearborn Heights Police Department.

Wayne County Commission voted to approve amended 2025-2028 Rules of Procedure for the Commission at their full board meeting today. The Rules of Procedure were last adopted on February 6, 2025.

The Wayne County Commission also voted to approve a resolution that acknowledges the Commission’s commitment to the safety and protection of its youngest residents as well as the proper administration of youth programs that reaffirms Resolution No. 2025-492. The new resolution also clearly defines what youth related activities are permissible, including required compliance with the new WCC youth safety policy. The Commission is looking forward to continuing their commitment to serving and protecting youth in Wayne County.
