No barrier or obstacle will stop our students from reaching their dreams.

The Ride to Rise program provides free DDOT bus rides to all K-12 students in Detroit, ensuring that our students have access to free, safe, and reliable transportation.

Students can participate in three simple steps:
-Board any standard DDOT city bus.
-Show the bus operator a valid school-issued ID.
-Take a seat and ride for free.

Detroit’s economy is moving forward and Detroiters are seeing the momentum. 📈

New projections show continued growth in jobs, wages and the city’s workforce through 2031:

💼 4.2% average annual wage growth projected for Detroit residents
🏙️ 3.3% average annual wage growth projected for jobs within the city
📈 0.4% annual job growth projected from 2027–2031
👥 1.6% increase in resident employment over the past year

More Detroiters are entering the labor market and positioning themselves for opportunity.

Detroit’s future is being built by the people who live, work and invest in this city. We’re growing, and we’re just getting started.

Twenty-five years later, the memories of September 11, 2001 remain.

Today, the City of Detroit honors the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and everyday heroes who answered the call with courage and sacrifice.

We remember the unity that brought people together in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We remember the strength, compassion and resilience that followed.

Detroit remembers. We will never forget.

More afterschool options are coming to Detroit students.

Mayor Mary Sheffield announced a $2.2 million investment to expand GOAL Line programming to seven new locations, bringing the network to 40 locations across Detroit.

The expansion will help nearly 1,000 more students access afterschool programming during the 2026–27 school year.
