Power outages? Here’s how grid resilience is keeping the lights on!

Here’s a quick breakdown of the tech powering our modern world:

⚡ Electric Grid: The massive highway system for electricity.
⚡ Resilience: Strengthening the grid to survive extreme weather and cyber threats without prolonged outages.
⚡ Microgrids: Local power hubs that can detach and run independently when the main grid goes down—keeping homes and hospitals safe!

Thanks to new legislation signed by Gov. Jared Polis, residents can now tap into plug-in "balcony solar" systems—portable, small-scale solar panels that plug directly into standard wall outlets to help lower household electricity costs.

If you rent, or live in a condo or an HOA, here is what you need to know before getting started:

• Property Rules: Coloradans can start using balcony solar systems today if currently allowed by their property owner or Homeowner’s Association (HOA), and starting January 1, 2027, rental property owners and HOAs may no longer prohibit use of these systems.
• System Size: Smaller plug-and-play systems (up to 391 watts) plug right into standard outlets. Larger setups (up to a nation-leading 1,920 watts) require compliance with local building safety codes.

Before setting up your system, make sure you understand all local safety guidelines and requirements.

Colorado is the national leader in Electric Vehicle purchases, and part of that is because we are offering a convenient network of fast-chargers across the state. These new funds will build 270 more fast-charging ports at 35 different stations, meaning families in every corner of our state, from the Western Slope to the Eastern Plains, can make the switch to an EV, charge quickly, and save money. This is how we build a stronger Colorado for All with lower costs and cleaner air.
