At 1519hrs this afternoon Central Falls Fire Alarm received a phone call from Central Falls Police reporting a possible building fire at 280 Rand Street Building 6. E2, L1, R2, B4 and C2 responded. Companies gained access via Rand Street, B4 reported a 4 story brick vacant mill with smoke showing from the roof on the B side of the building. B4 struck a 2nd alarm on arrival, bringing Pawtucket E3, E4,E5, L1, R2, B2, Lincoln E5, Cumberland E1, L1, C1, Prov L7, R5 and N Prov R1 to the scene.
CF E2 established a water supply from the hydrant on Rand Street, feeding CF L1 for ladder pipe operations. Lincoln E5, established a water supply in the Price Rite parking lot feeding Pawtucket E4 on the D side of the building. Pawtucket L1, E3, B2, R2 accessed the roof via Pawtucket L1 aerial and began to open up the roof decking on the affected area. Pawtucket E4 performed a primary search on all levels reporting no smoke or fire on the inside of the building. Cumberland L1 set up their aerial on the D side and Cumberland L1 and E1 stretched a handline up the aerial and onto the roof assisting companies that were already working.
Fire was placed under control, Central Falls Fire Department and the Rhode Island State Fire Marshals office responded to conduct an investigation. 1 FF was treated and transported for evaluation.
Station coverage was provided by CF E1, B2, Lincoln E8, N Providence E1, Providence L6.
This was the same building companies worked at earlier in the day. However the fire was located on the opposite side of the building from the previous fire. This was a labor intensive job, requiring a substantial amount of overhaul due to the layers of roofing material. Another fine job by companies on scene for something that could’ve been a lot worse. Thank you to our mutual aid partners that responded to help us as always.

At 23:42 hours Central Falls Fire Alarm received a 911 call reporting a fire in the area of 291 Pine Street. At 23:44 hours Central Falls Fire Alarm received a Master Box Alarm through the Keltron System for 280 Rand Street Building 6.
Central Falls companies E2, E1, L1, R2, and Battalion Chief 3 responded staffed with 10. Battalion 3 arrived on scene reporting smoke in the area. Companies gained access to the property and Battalion 3 reported a vacant 4 story brick mill with fire on the exterior on the C side running the first floor up along the roof line, calling a Code Red / Second Alarm.
Mutual aid requested bringing Pawtucket E2, L1, R2 and BC 2, Lincoln Engine 5, Cumberland E1, L1 and P2 for RIT.
Car 2 arrived on scene and immediately called for a third alarm, bringing in Lincoln E8, CHF 3, AS-1, North Providence E3, BC, Providence L7, BC and Lincoln R1. Central Falls E2 running on tank water stretched a handline knocking down a majority of the exterior fire. Pawtucket E2 laid 1100ft of 4inch supply line into the complex from Rand Street into Central Falls Engine 1. Central Falls Ladder 1 set up their ladder pipe for master streams. Pawtucket L1 and R2 entered from the C side door on a search rope, checking for extension into the building.
Additional mutual aid was requested from Pawtucket bringing E4, E5, L2 and R3. Pawtucket E5 laid in from Lonsdale Avenue from the hydrant in the parking lot of PriceRite feeding Central Falls E2. After additional mutual aid arrived on scene companies advanced a 2 1/2 inch line to the doorway and ran ( 2 ) 1 3/4 lines off a gated y to floors 1 and 2 knocking down additional fire and overhauled. Both Central Falls L1 and Pawtucket L2 put their aerials to the roof to check for extension.
It was determined that this portion of the building was located in Pawtucket. Pawtucket Fire Marshals office and Rhode Island State Fire Marshals office responded and conducted their investigation. No injuries to any firefighters on scene.
A recall was done for Central Falls Fire and Engine 3 and Battalion 4 was staffed for station coverage. As well as station coverage from East Providence E1 and L3. Woonsocket E2 was cancelled enroute.
Hats off the companies on scene, a fire that could have been a lot worse. Thank you to everyone that responded and assisted.

🔥🚒 Fire Prevention Week Fun! 🚒🔥

Our Central Falls students had a very special visit from the Central Falls Fire Department in celebration of Fire Prevention Week! ❤️

Our little learners had the opportunity to meet some of our local firefighters, learn about fire safety and prevention, and get an up-close look at a fire truck!

They were so excited to show off their firefighter hats and even presented our visitors with some special artwork. 🧑‍🚒🎨

A huge THANK YOU to the Central Falls Fire Department for taking the time to visit us, teach our students about staying safe, and make their day extra special!
