After the unimaginable tragedy experienced in Fogo this weekend, coming together with the community here in Pawtucket felt especially meaningful. In moments of heartbreak and uncertainty, there is comfort in gathering with friends, neighbors, and loved ones, sharing in culture, and reminding one another that no one has to face difficult moments alone.
It was uplifting to spend time at the Kretchêu Festival, Brava Unidos, and the “I Love Pawtucket” event. Each gathering offered an opportunity to celebrate culture, strengthen connections, and simply be together. These moments of joy and togetherness do not erase the pain being felt, but they are a powerful reminder of the love, resilience, and support that exists within the community.

Después de la tragedia inimaginable que vivió Fogo este fin de semana, reunirnos con la comunidad aquí en Pawtucket tuvo un significado aún más especial. En momentos de dolor e incertidumbre, encontrar consuelo al reunirnos con amigos, vecinos y seres queridos, compartir en cultura y recordarnos unos a otros que nadie tiene que enfrentar los momentos difíciles a solas.
Fue muy reconfortante pasar tiempo en el Festival Kretchêu, Brava Unidos y el evento “I Love Pawtucket”. Cada encuentro ofreció una oportunidad para celebrar la cultura, fortalecer los lazos y simplemente estar juntos. Estos momentos de alegría y unión no borran el dolor que se está viviendo, pero son un poderoso recordatorio del amor, la resiliencia y el apoyo que existen dentro de la comunidad.
