Mercy Flight Central An independent, nonprofit organization of air medical professionals. Mercy Flight Central provides the highest level of pre-hospital critical care to patients.

Mercy Flight Central was founded as a non-profit in 1992 to provide air medical services to New York State residents and beyond. Since its inception, the organization has served more than 15,000 patients and grown to approximately 70 employees. MFC’s three base locations serve the regions of the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Mohawk Valley, including service to the Lower Adirondacks. The organization began operations as an advanced life support air ambulance service and has since expanded to become New York’s premier critical care air medical service with three helicopters staffed 24/7/365. The aircraft utilized in transports includes helicopters that can travel within a 150-mile radius of Mercy Flight Central’s base locations. Each helicopter is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment that includes advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, and ultrasonography devices. Our Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic teams are highly trained and experienced in critical care. Air medical teams care for critically ill and injured patients requiring advanced treatment and rapid air medical transport to specialized medical centers across the northeast. Together these elements allow Mercy Flight Central to deliver a high level of critical care to the scene of an accident or a patient’s bedside.

From hands-on learning to a behind-the-scenes look of our air medical operations, MFC’s Canandaigua base was buzzing with activity today! 🚁

We welcomed two groups of students from Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES who had the opportunity to explore Mercy Flight Central and put their skills to the test in our simulation trailer alongside Clinical Educator Joe!

We also hosted new 911 dispatchers representing Ontario County Sheriff's Office, Yates County Sheriff's Office, Seneca County Emergency Management & 911 and SUNY Geneseo University Police. During their visit, they learned how communications, clinical and flight operations work together to coordinate air medical missions.

Whether we're introducing students to the world of critical care or strengthening connections with the dispatchers who help set our missions in motion, opportunities like these are an important part of building a stronger emergency response network.

Thank you to everyone who spent their Friday with us! ❤️

Mercy Flight Central recently welcomed Congresswoman Claudia Tenney to our Canandaigua headquarters for an opportunity to meet with our team, learn more about our operations, and discuss the important role air medical services play in communities throughout the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Mohawk Valley regions.

Our conversations highlighted the evolving needs of rural healthcare, the importance of federal policies that support access to critical care, and the value of strong partnerships in building a more connected regional emergency medical system.

For more than three decades, Mercy Flight Central has been committed to connecting patients with lifesaving care. Opportunities to engage with elected officials help us share that mission, advocate for the communities we serve, and continue looking toward the future.

Thank you, Congresswoman Tenney, for taking the time to visit, connect with our team, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of critical care services. We appreciate your interest in our mission and look forward to staying connected!
