We had such a fun rain barrel workshop last night at Star Cider, sponsored by the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association (CLWA) and in partnership with the Ontario-Wayne Stormwater Coalition. Thank you to all of our attendees for coming out and learning ways to protect our watershed! Thank you to starcidery for hosting the event and to CLWA for always being a great partner!!

Today we set up our soil health display and presented to several groups of Newark Middle Schoolers as part of a farm tour hosted by Hemdale Farms & Greenhouses. We love participating in educational outreach events with our local farmers!

We have a rain barrel workshop on May 12, 2026 at 6:30pm at Star Cider in partnership with the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association (CLWA) and the Ontario-Wayne Stormwater Coalition. We have another rain barrel workshop on May 19, 2026 at 6:30pm at Victor Municipal Park in partnership with the Town of Victor and the Ontario-Wayne Stormwater Coalition. What a beautiful day to plant some trees! We were out with an amazing group of volunteers at the Kashong Conservation Area where we planted 160 native trees and shrubs around the vernal pools installed last autumn. Thanks to all who were part of this day! Shout out to Town of Geneva, Seneca Lake Pure Waters, Eaton Birding Society, White Oak Nursery, Beto Seeds, Hobart & Williams Smith Colleges!

What an amazing Western Finger Lakes Regional Envirothon! Thank you to all of the awesome volunteers, test creators, coordinators, graders, and more for their dedication to make this such a wonderful event. The teachers and students were incredible to work with and we appreciate all of their hard work. It was windy but the rain held off for the very end. The wildlife Rockstars brought a really cool animal display that everyone enjoyed. The Finger Lakes Community College Woodsmen’s team even did a demonstration of their fun activities! Such a great day.

Yesterday was a beautiful Earth Day! 🌎 Representing the Ontario-Wayne Stormwater Coalition, we spent the evening with the Victor Cub Scouts learning about preventing stormwater pollution. The kids then went around an entire neighborhood and marked the storm drains with small tags. They did an excellent job and had a lot of fun learning and making a difference in their community.

Last week we were at Naples Elementary for their afterschool plant club meeting. Last month the students learned about soil science and this time we went into more detail about composting and soil health. There is no better way to learn about soil than getting your hands dirty and touching real worms 🪱
